President Barack Obama on Tuesday called the Republican budget passed by the House last week "thinly veiled Social Darwinism," as he attempted to sharpen differences between his economic vision and the GOP's ahead of what's likely to be a contentious re-election battle.
The Republican plan is a "Trojan Horse disguised as a deficit plan," Mr. Obama asserted in a speech to newspaper executives at the annual meeting of the Associated Press. "It's antithetical to our entire history as a land of opportunity and upward mobility for everyone who's willing to work for it."
Mr. President, exactly it was through the efforts of individuals that allowed for this upward mobility, social darwinism if you will. Certainly the government is needed but not to the degree you and your party want.
Administration officials pitched the speech as a follow to remarks the president gave in December in Osawatomie, Kan. There, he said it was inexcusable that some people couldn't get into the middle class and he blamed Republicans for enabling irresponsibility with loose regulations.
Mr. Obama continued that tone today, saying Republicans were attempting to "impose a radical vision on our country."
Their vision, he said, includes gutting the things the U.S. needs to grow—education and training and research and development—and is "a prescription for decline." Mr. Obama said the Republican budget would "dramatically" reduce benefits the middle class receive for health care, retirement and homeownership.
I want to know since when was it the government's responsibility to have anything to do with someone's retirement, healthcare or homeownership?

"Survival of the fittest" is a phrase from Herbert Spencer. One he made after reading Darwin's reference to "Natural Selection".
Neither have fascists, despots and tyrants across all of human history.
