There is a big difference in the will to fight between fighting in a foreign land and fighting for your own place. All of the above were conflicts in a foreign land. On the other hand if you look at Israel/Palestine where the Israelis are fighting the Palestinians for their mutual homeland its no comparison.

So, based on the arguments made so far, it seems the biggest problem would be either the US government would enslave our people (regardless of the 13th amendment), or would seek some sort of battle royal against our people(I guess that our elected officials secretly want us dead), or criminals would learn to manufacture guns and ammo (where are all these smart criminals again?), or animals would take over because we couldn't control their population (couldn't the military fight them instead of us?), or criminals would run around with two by fours with rusty nails in them to steal from us (maybe we could just outlaw rusty nails).

Anyways, regardless of how I feel about these arguments, at least they are an interesting read. Maybe one day we will find an appropriate balance here.

The whole premise of the OP is ridiculous, but, fools rush in. There would still be many, many lives snuffed out due to abortion, etc and I would not feel comforted by being surrounded by guns of all sort that I could grab at a moments notice to blast a bad guy.

You have the answer but like any other close-minded person/idealogue you won't pay heed.

The UK is worse than South Africa for per capita violent crimes. You have a 22% better chance of being a victim in the UK than in the US. Again, so much for being disarmed and safe.

Total crime victims statistics - countries compared - Nationmaster

As for murders, the US isn't even in the top 40. We have less murders per capita than liberal utopias such as France, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Germany, Spain, Netherlands... and on and on and on

Murders (per capita) statistics - Countries Compared - NationMaster

I'll not post all the stats on how crime goes down when a state becomes open carry, or CCP.

You should avoid passing on assumptions as fact.
Incorrect. First, those murder statistics are per one million residents. Extrapolate the U.S. murder rate and it would place our country, the richest and most powerful in the world, in the top amongst the cities chosen for that list (42 murders per 1 million).

As for the violent crime rate, different countries have different criteria, rendering a direct statistical comparison useless. The UK counts common assault with no injury as a violent crime; the US does not. That alone accounts for 37% of the UK's "violent crime". Based on murder rate, the UK is miles safer than the United States. It's not even close.
