You're deeply submerged in gun pathology if you think this weapon reflects an appropriate level of self-defense. How and when did Americans get this paranoid?
The better question is what has caused the brains of a segment of our population who refer to themselves as liberals, to process information backward? You all keep saying gun owners are paranoid .... yet you are the one's with this irrational fear of of them (them=gun owners).
Furthermore, the appropriate level of defense is dictated by the potential threat. And believe me, criminals are not lurking in the shadows with black powder muskets, or single action revolvers .... in many cases they are more heavily armed than police, sporting fully automatic weapons for which no revolver could pose much effective resistance. Do you realize there are areas of Los Angeles where the police won't even go, because of the danger posed by heavily armed MS13 gang members, just to name one of many such gangs? That isn't paranoia, that is reality. Get in touch with it for crying out loud.

Look ... in case you didn't get the point .. and you obviously didn't .... these civilian versions of the M16, commonly called AR15s are NOT assault weapons. They look like military infantry machine guns, but they are not. They are no greater danger than a common hunting rifle, or the old Winchester that I posted along side it, which is FAR MORE POWERFUL AND DEADLY. That was the point .. and even after explaining this, you still won't get it.

Because if you want to shoot your mouth off about them, then you should know what you're talking about. That's why! And if you took the next step, and educated yourself about WHY the founding fathers considered the right to bear arms so important that they made it the 2nd Amendment ... then you wouldn't make such ridiculous assertions like suggesting those of us who actually understand the importance of that precious right, suffer some pathology.
It's not a pathology to embrace one's right to self defense ... but it is approaching lunacy to promote the elimination of your own rights ... or restricting the tools for such defense to something inferior to what a criminal will likely use to threaten you. That is pathological.
But if a ban on assault weapons meant that this type of massacre would not occur again, given that he was able to kill so many children so quickly because he used an assault rifle, would you not agree to it? even then?
First .. for the hundredth time .... it's not an "assault weapon" ... it's a semi-automatic rifle that has the cosmetic appearance of a military assault weapon. Secondly, I already posted a video showing how a lever action rifle designed in 1894 could do the same thing ... pistols can do the same thing .... freaking machetes can do the same thing.
You all just parrot this tripe fed you by the media as if it were fact, and it isn't. And it rails against common sense. All of these idiotic proposals like limiting the capacity of magazines is just as much a total fraud as the TSA grabbing your testicles to make you safer.
Listen .... a god damned nut could drive an Volkswagen beetle onto the playground at recess, and plow over 50 kids faster than this nut shot those 20 children .... so how do you prevent that? Are we to ban automobiles?
You people need to stop being so bloody irrational and hard headed. All of the data shows that gun restrictions and gun bans do nothing but lead to INCREASED gun violence ... they don't lessen it. That's true here in the US ... it's true in the UK ... it's true in Australia .... this is not speculation, this is what the hard evidence shows. So, if that is true, why do promote actions that will increase gun violence? That's the legitimate question you need to ask yourself.
Strangely enough hunters of boars in most other countries use single-shot rifles with magazines not assault weapons for their hunting. Might I remind you that the Bushmaster used is the civilian variant of the M-16.
A civilian weapon that isn't powerful enough to use on big game .... that's the part you keep leaving out.
If we're legislating by anecdote, why haven't we banned air travel? Did TWA, Lockerbie, 9/11 teach us nothing? Or driving, with their proclivity to explode when packed with fertilizer? Terrible people do terrible things. Is it societies job to live in constant reaction to rare events?
Cool so we can ban this gun too thanks for sharing.

The model 94 (called that for the year it was introduced ... 1894) held 6-30 cal cartridges in the 20", and 8 in the 24", easily and quickly loaded from the side, a proficient shooter such as the individual in the above video can fire it as rapidly as anyone would need to do to cause serious harm to many people in a very short amount of time. 6 rounds can be fired in less than 3 seconds, as shown in the video. Reloading 6 will take approximately 6 seconds. That works out to one round fired per second for the first 12 rounds, 9 seconds for each 6 rounds thereafter .. .... or 44 rounds per minute ... or 100 rounds in just 2 minutes 18 seconds.
And the holes those 30 cal rounds make are much bigger and more deadly than AR15s typical loads. Whatever you hit with that 30 cal is going down, and it ain't getting up.
So why did you post this crap? Are you deliberately lying, or are you just spouting off about things you know nothing about? Which is it? Shameless or clueless? It is one of the two.
Yet it was the rifle that Lanza used on the children and it is indeed the civilian variant of the M-16, these are the parts YOU are leaving out.
Do you know what makes it a 'civilian variant' as you call it? An M-16 has three positions on the selector. First is safe, then fire, and then auto. The difference between those? Fire is a single shot for each trigger pull, as most magazine loaded rifles are, and the auto is a three round burst. Now, an AR-15, the civilian rifle that resembles the M-16 in styling does NOT function this way. The AR-15 has two selections only. Safe and fire. Fire gives one shot for each trigger pull, same as many hunting rifles out there. So what makes the AR-15 different? The ONLY thing that makes it distinctive is the look of it. So really, are you just worried about how it looks because it doesn't function like an M-16? That seems a pretty ignorant position to take.
