I can't imagine why anyone would want to own a pit bull. Also on that list are snakes, lions or other exotic animals. I can't imagine why anyone would want the kind of body piercings I see all too often. I can't imagine why anyone would drive a SmartCar. I can't imagine why anyone would vote for Socialism.
I own several AR-type weapons and enjoy using them (at a range).
And like everything I mentioned above, it's perfectly legal. So I don't give a rat's a** about what your opinion is, probably much as you don't give one about mine.
Then explain why countries with strict gun control laws have such lower murder rates than the US?
That's easy to explain, you have a lot of criminals that use guns in their crimes. Granted that's because their is so many guns in this country but the cat is out the bag, taking them out of the hands of law abiding citizens isn't going to solve the problem of illegal guns used during the act of a crime. That would in fact make it worse as these legally owned firearms disappear into the criminal world.
True. Ignorance is a huge problem. They continue to refer to the rifle as a "high-powered" assault rifle. A .223 is bare minimum for hunting. While any AR can be fired quickly, it's not an assault rifle in the classic sense.
This kid chose a kindergarten for a reason - they posed no threat. He was a coward. He likely knew he was different and may have been bullied there as a kid. The kids represented an easy target to a young man who felt different than other young men. It was a way for him to assert himself. If his mother was domineering and overbearing, added to his personality, he was a ticking bomb. He lined those poor kids up and killed them. He could have just as easily done that with a knife, a club, or a single-shot muzzle loader. We have seen this in China, Australia and the UK.
The boy was mentally ill. His parents knew it, his brother knew it, and his classmates knew it. We need to address the root cause. The liberals will spend billions in their fight against guns. Take that money and fund mental health programs. You'll get no argument from me.
Funny how that little bastard didn't go to the nearby gun shop or range and say ....."everyone hit the ground".....isn't it?
It does not matter if people have a good reason to own a weapon or not. What matters is that this country was founded on the premise that as citizens we have certain inalienable rights which include the right to protect ourselves from tyranny as set forth in the second amendment.
It does not matter what a man chooses to use to defend himself from tyranny. By limiting his choices, the government creates the environment that the second amendment seeks to protect us FROM. First they will say...You don't need an assault rifle", then they will say "you don't need a handgun, because a long gun will work just as well for self-defense", and then they will say "you don't need anything bigger than a .22 caliber", and then they will say, "you don't need any guns at all".
Freedom is just that. Either you are free or you are not. There are no degrees of freedom.
I tried very hard, but I can't think of any reason why a law abiding citizen would want to own an assault weapon. If your true motive for owning a gun is to protect yourself, why isn't a normal gun good enough? What's next, your own miniature nuclear bomb under the guise of "Second Amendment rights"? Where does it stop?
The thing is that most of them are boat anchors. 9 out of 10 of these gun nuts wouldn't have the balls to pull the trigger against another human being. They just get some kind of a high out of having the damn thing in the house.
But then one of their kids goes nuts or someone who knows they have it breaks in and steals it from them and kills with it.
