There way way to much focus on these times of events. Too much air time on a national basis. We are disgusted by these events... Yet, we watch the events every week at the movies and on TV - and we pay to do this. We act out these violent scenarios on our home video games - games that we bought. But when they happen in real life - we are disgusted and blame the guns. Drus are another issue. These types of crimes are often facilitated with drugs. How about we hinder the in flow of drugs into the country.
OK - take the guns away. The violent movies, violent TV shows, and violent video games will still be there - still pumping these thoughts and images in our head. Drugs will still be clouding good judgment. Violence will still take place because it will still be put in people who watch and take in these events. However, the movies and the video games and the drugs will not be the target of President Obama.
The target will be people who have done nothing wrong because they may get a guns. Those prone to do violvence - will do violence either with a gun, knife, baseball bat, etc. Now obviously less damage can be done when not using a firearm. But violence is violence whether it happens to one person or many people.
We need to focus on curbing the violent intent by reducing the violence we watch.
Interesting to see that conservatives now essentially agree with Tipper Gore's opinions from the 1980s: Blame the violent video games, the music lyrics, and the sexuality of our culture.
The democrats and liberals are on to something....I read a stat that says that over 3,000 people drown in pools every year....so I'd sugest we ban pools.
No pools, and therefore no people will drown in pools...wa-la...problem solved.
Hmmm...I grew up on Doom (and the sequels), Duke Nukem (and the sequels), Max Payne (and the sequel), the entire Wolfenstein series, the Blood series...etc etc etc. For some reason, I've never even remotely had the urge to go on a killing spree. I must not be playing enough violent video games!
Have a look at this list people. 66 violent school incidents (shootings, stabbings, threats) over the past 20 years were committed by people on antipsychotic depressants or SSRI's:

Democrats and liberals? You must be unaware of the fact that a large number of conservatives are saying this is a sociological problem, and that we need to "change the culture" and do something about violent video games and movies.
