Maybe because you can walk across the street to Maryland and get a gun or drive across the river to Virginia and get one?
You can't just go buy a gun in any Virginia or MD gun store. You have to be a Virginia or MD resident (with multiple forms of ID), and you have to get a background check.
C'mon man, everyone knows Seattle is the capital of liberal whiners even more so than even Portland and SF, so stop smoking so much of your now legal dope and posting on CityData...
Or "smoking fascists", whatever that refers to...
"Progressive" and "liberal" are two different things. Seattle is very progressive but not as liberal as some would have you think.

Actually you can't. At least not from a licensed gun dealer. Handguns require a mandatory waiting period in MD and can not be sold across state lines without a transfer between FFL holders. Long guns are different and although the process is supposed to be the same, I go to PA to buy any long guns (primarily shotguns) which I wish to buy because the very few times I have bought shotguns in MD the process has been dragged out, onerous and not worth my time. The time issue includes the fact that the drive to the PA gunshop I deal with is 6 hours one way.
