What the NRA has done since the shootings is practice first class professionalism in remaining calm, cool and collective while the media and anti-gun advocates have erupted into a orgy of knee jerk responses of absolute insanity. The statement just released was this:

[National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.

Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.]

On Friday the NRA will hold a major press conference Friday Dec 21 in Washington.

NRA Releases Statement, Shows More Class than Media

Waiting to make a statement was both the humane thing for the NRA to do and the smart thing tactically. By waiting until today, the NRA now knows what the media's tactics are; and by waiting a few days after making this announcement to hold the actual presser, they will have an idea of how our unbiased, objective, open-minded, impartial, non-ideological media intends to absolutely crush and destroy them.

Look at what's happened to the NRA already. They've been mocked and taunted by the media for not speaking out. But you know if they already had, they would've been pilloried with "too soon."

Remember, this is the same media that blamed the Gabby Giffords shooting on Sarah Palin (within one hour of the shooting and before they knew who the shooter was). These people are merciless when they're in a frenzy over the smell of blood in the water.

That will all depend on what they actually end up saying.

Your little media opinion piece seems to follow exactly what you're accusing the mainstream of. Full of singular opinion, unlinked, sensationalistic hyperbole. ..

While the top dogs in the NRA are trying to figure out what to say in their news conference their members are out buying out the guns stores because the boogie man is coming to take their guns. That really shows what "class" they are in, doesn't it. That's quite a compassionate reaction, isn't it while at the same time the "26 random acts of kindness" campaign to honor the 26 victims is going viral around the world...now that's REAL class.

It took them a almost a week to issue a statement indicating they will schedule a press conference?

Other than wingnuts, who cares what the NRA has to say about anything?

What shows class is holding your tongue while being verbally abused by the likes of chris matthews and al sharpton.

Meanwhile, not ONE of the tragedies has been caused by an NRA member, let alone a national leader.

Absolutely. Nothing more classLESS than flapping your gums before thinking. Especially when you don't have a clue what you're flapping about.

In other words, they are waiting for legal to tell them what to say to keep their balls out of a bear trap. Public opinion is pretty strong on this one, with 20 kids dead at Christmas because high cap firearms are available because of their lobbying efforts.

A LOT of people are really interested in what sort of excuses they are going to come up with to pooh-pooh the whole thing. It better be good, or they really are going down.
