and by the way, dont drink alcohol when you take these pills, but if you do, you can still sue the drug companies because they didnt warn you strongly enough.

the we get bombarded with all kinds of gratuitous violence in the movies, on tv, and in video games, and our favorite stars are the ones committing that violence. you see them die in one movie, and they are back for the next violent movie. and then, despite the fact that they use guns in the movies, they are loudly antigun when a school shooting happens. and when things die down, they go back to making the same old violent movies again.

and then our own federal government runs guns across our southern border where they are used by the drug cartels to kill innocent people down there. and when they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar they deny and cover up until the next crisis comes along and people forget the last one.

and then when we do end up prosecuting the criminals, most of the time they get a slap on the wrist, or early release due to good behavior and overcrowding.
You forgot to include something about people trampling your lawn. If you are going to be a curmudgeon, you need to learn to do it right.

Do such people really realize what classic liberalism really has been, though? Do they realize that 19th century liberals included among their ranks a man who resented the fact that poor people were allowed to procreate (Thomas Malthus) and that "to some hardhearted liberals, the Irish famine of 1845-49, which killed about 1.5 million people, was simply nature's way of dealing with Ireland's excess population" 1 Strains of Social Darwinism, usually thought of in modern America as a far-right ideology, can be found within 19th century liberal thought! Even one of our presidents Grover Cleveland, a late 19th century Democrat, thought that it was not the government's responsibility to help American citizens when they lost their jobs due to depression! In reality, classic liberalism is found on the right side of the political spectrum, and Ann Coulter and Michael Savage are classic liberals themselves! Ah, the irony

What we have grown accustomed to calling "liberal" in this country is really socialist, and I don't mean that in a bad way either. Ron Paul is a quintessential liberal in this country today (especially with his talk of removing all government intervention in the economy, even those government programs that offer help to those who need help), and presidents such as FDR, Lyndon Johnson, and Bill Clinton, who have helped to set right historical injustices against the poor, have each been classic socialists. Our current president is a true socialist as well.

Then again, I do realize that maybe modern politicians have revised the political spectrum to accomodate the fact that true "conservatives" no longer exist in American politics anymore. Therefore, those with the farthest right ideology are called "conservatives."

This is just a topic that's truly intriguing to me. Feel free to criticize or set me right if anything I've asserted is wrong

Answer is - Progressivism (most inappropriately-named in that it does nothing but take people backwards).

Barry Goldwater was a classical liberal. There will, most likely, never be another major party nominee who can be classified as such.

Amen to that! The classic Jeffersonian liberal who believes in self-sufficiency and simplicity in economic and governmental transactions is extremely rare today among candidates in either political party. The Obamney-Robama campaign was proof of that. Both parties seem to be controlled by money and advertising schemes, and nobody pays attention to the wise sages (like Constitutionalist Ron Paul) who are often found in the third parties.
