4 million is the peak NRA membership. That is not enough to sway many House seats, and even fewer Senate races. 4 million is PITHY. 1/3rd the Latino 2012 vote total. 1/30th the US vote total. Might as well expect the Green party to tilt elections.
Just because the NRA is the main known gun lobbyist that doesn't mean only their members are gun owners, there are way more gun owners supportive of the 2nd amendment besides NRA members.

Besides if things were like you say, the Democrats wouldn't have steered clear of gun control the last election they would have confidently proposed it. Right now they smell blood (literally) and a time ripe for the picking but that may cost them.

(To identify the scope of the NRA)-Romney's abortion views lost far, far more votes than any views on assault weapons could. Now if there was an attempt to repeal the 2nd amendment entirely and it reached the Floor, that would be a bigger factor.

The non NRA gun owners are likely not the wing nuts many NRA members are. Add in rural areas disporportinately love their guns, and in 2008 and 2012, rural areas voting choices were overwhelmingly rejected by urban America, and the latter carried the day.

The thing that scares the radical right is on the heels of the TP and NRA losing 2 POTUS elections big time, that gun control changes followed by a 2016 election that mirrors 2012, will render the NRA as visibly impotent to pols as it truly is.

Gun control was barely mentioned during the election. No one wanted to mention it. If Obama and other politicians were strongly pushing for gun bans as they are now, there would have been very big impacts on the election.

Yawn. With 62 electoral votes to SPARE, it would not have changed the results. Now if the GOP could truly compete, the itty bitty NRA might matter. But they are getting slaughtered, winning 206 electoral votes of 538 is roughly the same as a baseball team going 61-101. No one sane would think, hey just tweak the baeball team a little, they win the World Series.

The Republicans are not going to stand up for gun rights after Newtown.

Romney was a weaker candidate than McCain and Obama still had to work very hard to win the swing states.

Piers Morgan calls the guns in America an embarrassment and I agree.

The fact that he even won with 9% unemployment and deficits should tell everything you need to know about Romney, McCain would have been worse, everyone has seen that show before. The best candidate was Huntsman,he actiually could have won but he didn't have Romney's money or backing.

Who said anyting about banning guns, that has been the NRA's motto for years now, they have been claiming that Obama will taking away guns in his second term, thank them for the price increases and paranoid hysteria.

No! They are just liberal idiots that want to take your rights away.
