The People in all states combined cast more votes for Democratic candidates for the House of Representatives than Republicans, yet the Republican party controls the House.
If you can call that shambles a "party", and if you can call tonight's farce "control".
Repubs cancelled the vote for Plan B when it became obvious it did not have the votes to pass. I don't know if this is good news or bad, but is this the end of Boehner?
Boehner looks like a guy my Dad would have hired to run a drain tile for a field or install a septic system.
The "fiscal cliff" deal is bipartisan. Both sides agreed on it last year as part of an agreement to raise the debt ceiling.
If the GOP wants to avoid it, all they have to do is approve a deal whereby top earners revert to paying the same tax rates they paid in 2002.
But they won't.
So whose fault is that?
They couldn't agree last year and probably put this in place because knew they both understood this was going to be difficult to negotiate this year. They put in a posion pill that would bring reasonable people to the table, they underestimated. We will see if there is any hope next week.
