Actually it's the function of the government to protect our rights. The NRA is a lobbying machine for gun manufacturers and protect their right to make money.
The NRA were the ones who first suggested background checks.
It is unfortunate how few people understand that gun control was created to keep blacks and other minorities unarmed against whites during Jim Crow era. Gun control is one of the last remaining aspects of Jim Crow still on the books, no wonder it is democrats who still push for it. Cannot have poor, middle class and minorities armed; they want guns only for the political elite and affluent.
If that is true then WHY is Barack Obama looking for ways to limit the 2nd amendment? The liberals look at the Constitution as a barrier and continue to look for ways get get around it.
Barack Obama is looking for ways to save lives. Period. He has no agenda against the 2nd Amendment. Twisting legitimate concern for human life into an agenda against the Sacred 2nd, oy vey. That's what got us into Iraq. If you didn't support the invasion of a sovereign nation state with which we had no active quarrel, you "didn't support America's troops". You were a treasonous coward who deserved to be expelled from the Protectorate. Nope. Not buying it. Guns need to be restricted. The 2nd is constantly being taken out of context in order to further an agenda of anarchy and bloodshed... and domestic gun manufacture and sales...

If he is trying to save lives, why nothing about the gang killings? There are more of those every day.
