He was speaking to confiscating assault weapons, not all guns, if you are going to post an artcle maybe you could post the entire text rather than what suits your paraniod hysteria.

NY Governor Cuomo on guns: ‘Confiscation could be an option’ - BizPac Review

Quote:
In an interview conducted Thursday on WGDJ-AM, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said he will propose gun control legislation in the 2013 session, and everything will be on the table — up to and including outright confiscation of weapons.

Gov. Cuomo said: “I don’t think legitimate sportsmen are going to say, ‘I need an assault weapon to go hunting.’ There is a balance here, I understand the rights of gun owners.”
The rights of gun owners are laid out in the Second Amendment to the Constitution, and those rights have nothing to do with hunting. They have everything to do with protection of self and loved ones.
Continuing, Cuomo said:
“Confiscation could be an option. Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun, but permit it.”

The poster said they wanted to go "Go back to the days when your second amendment was written". Why not just go all in? I can be ridiculous too.

Yes, the original intent of the amendment has been so bastardized that it's hardly recognizable between the intent and the reality of guns in this country.

I think NY State ought to do whatever they want and leave Texas alone. Maybe we can get theme to secede from the Union and take California with them.

What makes you think we didn't read it? I read it several hours ago on another forum. The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting, it's not just hunting guns protected by it. All guns in common use are protected, according to SCOTUS, and the AR is the most popular rifle today.

But if Cuomo wants to do confiscation, let him try, all of NY is not full of urban sheeple who will turn them in voluntarily. Civil War II will be on the fascists' hands this time.

really? it seems to me that the second amendment is quite clear, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. seems simple enough to me.

Good luck with that. This is why the 2nd amendment exists.

I'm not sure what some of you expect--when you refuse to participate in the debate in a reasonable way, then someone else is going to control the agenda. The NRA's suggestion that this whole thing is going to be fixed by banning violent video games and movies and arming schools is ridiculous. When you start to get serious about this, then you can be part of the conversation. Until then--pfft.

Now that is one hell of an idea. I wonder if it could happen.

"Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D-N.Y.) said Thursday that all options, including confiscation and “mandatory sales to the state,” would be on the table next month when the New York State Legislature debates new gun control measures. The comments were specifically aimed at what might happen should stricter rules be imposed on “assault” weapons and high-capacity magazines.

The governor said he plans on proposing a package of gun legislation in his State of the State address on Jan. 9. “There’s a big difference of opinion on these issues,” Gov. Cuomo said today during a radio interview with Albany’s WGDJ-AM."

Lets see the gangs give up their guns. How is NY going to deal with gangs.
