They have to wait until some fool like Matthews or MadCow tells them what to think.

Armed security guard shoots, kills gunman at Brandon nightclub
Not that common sense and logic seems to mean anything to most pro-gun posters, but here goes:

1. Shooter was not an insane, suicidal person trying to kill masses of innocent people. Was sane, cared for his life, and was threatening one person with whom he had an argument.

2. Security guard was not being shot at when he responded - he saw the situation and knew what was going on and had the opportunity to draw and aim his weapon. He was not surprised by a homicidal maniac bursting into a building.

3. Gun was apparently not the type used in the mass shooting in CT.

4. One person was killed and two people were injured, including an innocent bystander. Under what circumstances is this a positive outcome??

5. Had the original gun wielder not had a gun in the first place, no one would have been hurt or killed in the first place.

Tell yourself whatever will help you sleep at night to deny those results.

Arming people and having a highly trained security guard are 2 different things. but of course you wouldn't know that.
Well, aside from having a CCW, we don't know how well trained he was. He was working a security gig at a nightclub, not guarding the President. Regardless, I have never suggested merely passing weapons out without training.

Alot of assuming going on. This occurred in Florida. Home of the stand your ground law. The guy who got should may end up saying he fired in fear of his life. You do realize in florida if a person feels another may do them bodily harm they can shoot. Deosn't matter if the other person is armed.

Love how this hack keeps ignoring VT too. VT with armed guards had a body count in the 50s.

Here's your common sense.
Body count with armed guard: 0
Body count without armed guard: 26

So what?

You don't think that whatshisname in CT didn't turn his back to the door while gunning down those kids?

Irrelevant. Dead is dead, and every gun ever made can cause that.

It's a vast improvement over 26 innocents killed.

No doubt. Wanna take bets over whether or not he owned it legally?

How many times do I have to say a positive outcome is not guaranteed with armed guards? But a VERY NEGATIVE one IS guaranteed without them.

In regards to Columbine, and the people that are using it to prove that armed guards are not the solution, That day at Columbine, the community resource officer of Columbine High School was not there when the shooters started their rampage. He drove in about 5 or 6 minutes after the shootings started.

In actuality, Two officers exchanged fire with one of the teenage gunmen just outside the school door, then stopped — AS THEY HAD BEEN TRAINED TO DO — to wait for a SWAT team. During the 45 minutes it took for the SWAT team to assemble and go in, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold shot 10 of the 13 people they killed that day.

At that time that was the standard police procedure for dealing with shooting rampages in the U.S. and it proved tragically, heart-breakingly flawed.
