All of these people would be still alive if we banned car (insert whatever object you want). A quick google news search on "car killed" you will see dozen of people got killed by cars in the last few days. If cars were banned, all of them would be skill alive, given they don't get killed by other objects.
Since you are on it, ban all adults too. When an adult trip and fall onto a baby, the baby will not survive. For the safety of our infants, banned all adults.

But cars are regulated. Laws are passed to control safety of such. Also, some cars are banned in the US over safety concerns. The NRA position is that no laws should be constructed in regards to gun control.
Guns are a tool to protect person/ property as is a car to help one get from A to B
Either can be used in ways not intended, but that is an issue of personal responsibilty.
