Should we be allowed to drive tanks? Critical thinking goes a long way. Very few have said ban all guns. Where can I buy a stealth fighter?

NONSENSE!

When folks go out drinking they don't set out to kill someone deliberately.

When folks actually take a firearm in hand; with what other purpose are they intending to use it?

All the training I ever had was premised around the: "don't resort to the firearm unless you intend to use it" followed by; "don't point the thing unless you intend to kill what you're pointing it at".

Maybe you folks use them differently with mindsets that allow for fudging of the facts, ergo:

"I'll scare the crap out of that fellow and he'll stifle his barking dog" or "you took my parking spot and I'm mightily p***ed at you so move your car like right frikkin now." or the well known "I'm p/o'd at everything that ever happened in my tiny little insignificant life and am looking at pay-back so I'll shoot me some family, cops, kids or firemen".

Now correlate that to taking a drink to solve each of those previous scenarios and you'll easily see how the only fool hurt would be the one taking a drink.

Huh stupid we already do, it's a crime to drink and drive, however as Darwin theory says only the strongest and smartest will live to propagate....

Also within 10 years dui deaths will be a thing of the pass once the self driving car comes out... Forbes predicts 2040, but I think it will be widely available around 2016 or 17 mainly because of the productivity increases, and insurance companies will require it to receive a lower rate...

Self-Driving Cars Will Take Over By 2040 - Forbes

Think about this you go out on Friday have 5 glasses of wine with dinner, a couple of shots, then hit the bars for a night cap, who's gonna drive, duh the car... Need to run Mary and Johnny to soccer and still get get that presentation out? Car drives you work...

Both problems could be cured by banning idiots.

The thread title (2011 Drunk Driving Fatalities) gives the number for 2010. The number for 2011 was 9,878 - still very high, but lower than the total for 2010.

Related to this, 2010 deaths by gun numbers: 31, 513. Source

So the gunmen are still ahead of drunk drivers by a 3:1 margin. Drunk driving is against the law.

Hmmmm???????? I wonder how the NRA would view legislation against "drunk shooting"?

We should implement laws that bans large capacity bottles which is defined as any bottle that holds more than 10 mil.

We should also ban the loophole, i.e. private gifting or sales.

There should be background check on everybody to ensure there's no history of convicted crimes, violence, drunkenness and mental instability, and the person must not be out of job, in any divorce process, under an restraint order, on welfare or any government assistance program, on foreclosure, etc. etc. etc.

Actually the last one makes sense.

We just need to keep passing laws until we're all safe and can die of natural causes.

They'd probably be happy to support the right to SUI (shoot under the influence).
