News bulletin....1000's freeze to death not able to afford skyrocketing energy costs due to EPA overburdening regulations...
EPA officials were relieved to learn the coroners report revealed they all froze to death with clean lungs...
Most of the freezing deaths have more to do with homelessness and inadequate shelters rather then energy costs. People who do have homes tend not to freeze due to programs like LIHEAP.
With that said before the EPA 1000s died of air pollution every year in certain cities like Pittsburgh and St. Louis and thousands more used to die due to air pollution related causes. Something like 40,000 people a year still die of air pollution.
The GOP's goal has always been to gut the EPA - they literally hate anybody who tries to protect the environment over corporate profits.
It was the administration of GHW Bush that produced the 1990 amendment to the Clean Air Act that is the most profound piece of environmental legislation ever enacted.
OVERVIEW The Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 In June 1989 President Bush proposed sweeping revisions to the Clean Air Act. Building on Congressional proposals advanced during the 1980s, the President proposed legislation designed to curb three major threats to the nation's environment and to the health of millions of Americans: acid rain, urban air pollution, and toxic air emissions. The proposal also called for establishing a national permits program to make the law more workable, and an improved enforcement program to help ensure better compliance with the Act.
By large votes, both the House of Representatives (401-21) and the Senate (89-11) passed Clean Air bills that contained the major components of the President's proposals. Both bills also added provisions requiring the phaseout of ozone-depleting chemicals, roughly according to the schedule outlined in international negotiations (Revised Montreal Protocol). The Senate and House bills also added specific research and development provisions, as well as detailed programs to address accidental releases of toxic air pollutants.
Please provide a link showing that thousands of people are freezing to death in the US due to high energy costs.
It is impossible because it is not true. Most freezing deaths involve homelessness and many of the rest involve power outages in storms. LIHEAP does a pretty good job of ensuring that the poor and elderly have heat during the winter.
Yeah that pesky EPA and that darned clean air and clean water act. Always getting in the way of the God given freedom of Americans to dump large quantities of hormones and tannery waste in rivers, and burn coal so sulfur rich its yellow with no controls. Its not like these activities actually harm anyone. I mean look at China, it isn't as though they have any environmental problems whatsoever.
Another innocent soul got brain washed by big brother.
They all believe all the good things we have is because of government. Without government, we will be living in a sh1t hole. Ohh.. please.
Pollution is a by products of industrial revolution. The same problem we faced 40 years ago is facing by other industrialize countries like China and India. One you move pass that stage, pollution will decrease. Technology help too, as it is seeing in China and India.
All government agencies are bad. They are central planning. How do they know what is good and bad. If they label your property as wet land, good luck getting it over turn. It will never happen, UNLESS you have more resource them the government. The government only have UNLIMITED RESOURCE, so if you happen to have unlimited +1, you will win.
