The average trash collector makes $43000 per year. Most are unionized and have cadillac benefit plans to go with.
"Generally there's plenty of overtime and a person can easily make over $60,000 year. Im a driver in Chicago for a private company. We drive and load garbage we make from 25 to 30 hr and make 75-100k a year and it's union"
It also depends on where you live in you live in a city you can make a lot in a small town not so much. How about jobs like cafeteria workers for schools or hospitals or front desk or maids at hotels. There are tons of jobs like these that are low pay but are needed.
There have always been low paying jobs, even when the economy is booming. That's where people with few or no skills used to get started in the workforce. It was called "entry level", meaning, no one expected them to remain at that pay level indefinitely. Mostly teenagers held these jobs. It was a way for them to learn skills and prove themselves worthy of a company investing in them.
Teenagers don't want those kinds of jobs anymore. They want to start out as managers with top salaries. They have unreal expectations of what life is all about. So we allow illegal immigrants to do the jobs our kids don't want to do, and we pay the price.
