Every once in a while, an event happens in this world to affect citizens globally. These events include colonial conquests, rise of Nazism, rise of communism, etc. The last two were particularly nasty things. There is always a political issue being fought over in the United States somewhere, whether it's the unions, the prohibition, the great depression, the commies, or the middle east. The United States is good enough of a country to prevail through all of these events so far, even if we would have been better off if they didn't happen.

Occasionally some events have crippled or nearly crippled this country, albeit momentarily. However, many of them were foreshadowed by other events, and those events could have had something done about them.

What do you think right now is the biggest threat to the country's well being right now?

Obama, Harry Reid, Polosi and other democrats and lets not forget the left wing media like MSM are all the biggest threat to America. The left wing media regard Obama as a man incapable of making mistakes and will ignore or don't want to report Obama fiascos and if forced they then say it's a Fox news and demonize anyone who disagrees with them.

The left wing medias and Chris Matthews job is to sell us socialism.

Socialism is not just about taking away your money; it's also about making you praise the takers as your saviors. You are expected to feel good about being robbed of opportunities, talents, and success.

There must be a popular consensus that the crumbs you are getting back from the government are a sign of caring and largess... not a meager fraction of your actual earnings. Last but not least, Chris Matthews is to make you sincerely believe that those who are trying to protect you from the thieves are really your enemies and deserve to be destroyed.

The growing entitlement mentality. It lies at the root of our economic situation. It lies at the root of the American people balkanizing into "blacks", "women", "hispanics", "men", "whites", etc. It lies at the root of our failing educational system. It lies at the root of our energy dependence. It lies at the root of rampant consumerism.

The average American's primary concern is that he gets the most he can right now. No thought for the future, no thought for the nation as a whole, no thought for coming generations. The root of the decline of the nation is the average American's slide from a community minded, responsible, hard working person into a complacent and self involved person.

When the ambassador, a personal representative of the president of the United States was murdered in Benghazi people who listened to Chris Matthews and the left news media didn't even know it happened until they were "forced" to report it then the left wing media insisted it was no big deal.

When an ambassador who DOES represent our president is murdered it IS a big deal and regardless of what Obama and MSM's Chris Matthews would have us believe we do NOT live in a safer world.

yes and the entitlement mentality. If I am working i shouldn't have to give my pay away to people that are capable of working but refuse to work. They are getting paid to do nothing and it is an expense to America, an expense that we can not afford. When will they do their fair share of work like the rest of us.

The Republican's doom and gloom, self centered outlook on the country and their ability to think their party is the only right party.

urbanlife, You are so for Obama I have to wonder how many children did you father that we Americans are paying for?

Doom and gloom? At least we understand that to be financially successful, for our country to be wealthy we can't spend more than we bring in. Then we also understand that there is a point where if you take away incentive for success then all you get is failures looking for the government to support them. When the government supports you don't ever think it is free. The government will want something in return to support you. Nothing is free.

Once we stopped being just plain Americans like when I was a kid and being on unemp/welfare/foodstamps,etc was seen as disgraceful. Same with having children out of wedlock. And this is the 1970s I refer to not the 1870s.

We have come a long way baby!

The infantilization of our population. From it stems the cry for the someone else other the the individual to take care of themselves.
