I wonder how many of his Diamonds are blood diamonds or have been the cause of human suffering,through economic slavery, caused deaths, war, injuries, small children made to work in South African mines, the total destruction of people's environments and natural habitats for his God's creatures..... I am sure of course our dear poster only sells lab created diamonds ( and only for scientific uses) , the only way to ensure pain free diamonds on this planet. The destruction unleashed by diamond ( and other precious stones) industries and their spin-off businesses has to be one of the biggest sin on the planet. Selling little pieces of carbon which cause death, suffering, and war just for vanity and so that some shallow human beings can display their wealth and bling.

On balance between the enslavement of native populations, appalling work conditions, environmental destruction, war, and every single kind of human suffering you can imagine caused by the production of shiny little baubbles and allowing two consenting adults who love each other to marry I think I will chose the "latter" sin. A little perspective and a good look in the mirror might not be a bad thing for our NY Jewish friend.

Considering that ISRAEL has public opinion on the side of legalized gay marriage and American Jews support it with over 80% in favor of legal gay marriage, it would appear that he's the odd man out.
Then don't help a sin take place. The law in NY allows you to refuse to participate based on religions belief. but you cannot dictate to others how to live their lives. Also, as you pointed out in another post, it depends on the religion of those involved. Perhaps for their beliefs, it is NOT a sin to be in a gay marriage, in which case you would NOT be helping them to commit a sin. Unless of course your intent is to force the rules of your religion on everyone else, something which you would object to if done to you.

If your truly interested in understanding (on a basic level) Jewish law it would take a about a year. If you not interested just except what I'm saying as Jewish law.
When you hold it as a given that anyone you do "commerce" with must adhere to YOUR religious rules rather than their own, then yes, you cannot teach in the public school system.

Judaism is against gay marriage for Jews (assuming you're correct, which I will assume, since I'm an ignorant goy and all). Judaism has no right nor jurisdiction to make rules for Catholics, Protestants, Wiccans, Muslims, Aethiests, Buddhists, or any other -ists outside of Judaism. That's life. Accept it. You don't get to tell others how to live their lives. Accept that. You wouldn't like it if someone told you how to live your life. In fact, that's your main complaint right this second. Afford others the same courtesy you're demanding for yourself.

Actually, only Orthodox are against gay marriage. Reform (the largest Jewish division in North America), Reconstructionist, and a lot of Conservatives have no problem with it.
However, NYJew doesn't consider anyone who isn't Orthodox as a valid Jew, so his opinion is pretty meaningless.
