Well if you were visiting your friend in the mid/late 90s (say 97/98 but the years are blurring) then we might have run into each other and not have known it. Small world huh? Now we're exchanging our opinions on gun control on a website.

Sometimes I like to think about all the strange lives people are living around me.

I dont see anyone talking about this part of the disclosure which is serious.... I sure hope they sue the paper.

Fountain said he has since received emails from “abused women” who were under protective order.
“They’re terribly afraid that now their names and addresses are all over the Internet and accessible through that map,” he told CNN.

Well geez if a Fox News Blooger says it then its must be accurate, all these abused women had his telephone number and called him rather than police. Great investigative journalism by Fox News, they never let us down.

I don't think the newspaper should have published the names but for a government offical to refuse a freedom of information request should be grounds for dismissal. You can already get personal information on government records, this is no different.

Quote:
Putnam County officials, who initially agreed to provide the information to the Westchester-based Journal News, said in a press conference here Thursday they would defy New York State's open records law and refuse to provide the controversial information.
Janet Hasson, publisher of The Journal News Media Group, responded that the company will take legal action if necessary. "We take seriously our obligation to serve the residents of Putnam County and will aggressively pursue the community's right of access to public record information."

Really? I dont know why they would need protection.

They should just declare their newspaper a "gun free zone" and hide behind the printed words of the first amendment for protection.

Isnt that enough to thwart the bad guys?

As mentioned in the OP, there have been no threats at all.

Nice try.
