Do you think it is ok for a 10 year old to have a twitter account? Especially something that will make him exposed to the internet underbelly of the world? I guess you don't travel outside of this forum much do you? Hell we can even use this site as an example. People lose their sh*t over the stupidest things. A couple of weeks ago some guy lost his sh*t when he found out the the Maryland EBT card was called the Independence card. That's fake outrage. Hell even you made one of 2012's stupidest comments because you lost your sh*t when new neighbors moved into their home and they were held against their will by their next door neighbors because they didn't introduce themselves before moving in. Hell, people lose their sh*t on against all black people when ONE black person does something stupid.
People are looking for any reason to lose their sh*t on the internet. Hell did you see the sh*tstorm that ensued when fans of the Boston Bruins got upset they lost to the Wizards on a last second goal from a Black hockey play. For some reason they decided to express their frustration by calling the Hockey player a N*gger. On Twitter. For Everyone to see. There has been thousands of incidents just like this all across the internet for people's faux paus. The internet deems to punish people for stupidity whether it be by accident or on purpose. The internet doesn't care if your are 5 or 95. Anonymity allows people to express themselves to each other how much of an ******* they can be.
So, my original post is the most important one of this thread. Why would a 10 year old have a twitter account? That's like sending someone off to fight in a war without any training. With a knife. 3 inch blade.
seems like poor parenting, a ten year old with a twitter account and a parent too stupid to think people wouldn't be offended by their kid dressing up in black face. liberals and conservatives would be offended at this.
Actions MUST be taken in context. Clearly the boy idolizes this player. The action therefore, while misguided, is completely innocent and therefore inoffensive.
so you are saying only liberals are offended by black face ?????
the phrase race card in and of itself is a race card, you are using skin color to argue that something isnt worth talking about.
Maybe they were just offended by the color the boy dyed his hair? Or is coloring your hair white viewed as okay, but coloring your face brown is not? In other words, noticing the color of El Hadji Diouf's hair is alright, but noticing his skin color is not.
This poor kid is honoring his football hero, by trying to look like him on the day he met him. He puts the pic on Twitter and everybody goes crazy. Now the child is traumatized by people making ases out of themselves insisting everybody must be offended. The player wasn't, why should he be? This is so ridiculous. People be proud of who you are, and quit hiding behind the race card. Most of us are getting sick n tired of coddling you babies. The world doesn't revolve around the color of your skin, it's your character, get some! Quit looking for scapegoats to blame for all your troubles. Grow up and get on with your life. Poor kid deserves none of this crap. Enough!
Good grief. He's a kid. Note the smile on El Hadji Diouf's face. If he's not offended, we should not be offended.
Would anyone complain if this kid put on green make up to pose with the Hulk? I think not. He's a kid who dressed up like his hero who just happens to be black. The fact his hero IS black seems to have been lost here.
This white (I assume) kid has a black hero....I'd think they'd be celebrating the lack of racism here.
Does anyone else think the outrage displayed by the OP and one or two other posters in this thread is a little overblown and exaggerated?
Seriously, they're getting their panties in a twist over something that is happening "across the pond" and they seem to just be looking for something to blame on liberals.
Oh, well......the election is two months behind us, the holidays are over, the republi-CON party is in disarray, and our president will be sworn in for his second term in a few short weeks - and they're manufacturing things to be outraged over because they are bitter and apparently have nothing better to do.
"DAMN LIBERALS!!!!!"
(Hey! It's an absolutely stunning morning here in the Pacific Northwest and even this kind of idiocy will NOT get ME down! )
The OP is making the point that because mostly liberals have instituted a climate of hyper sensitivity in regards to race in the West that they are to blame for the arguably unreasonable hate aimed at a 10 year old.
Folks should have the awareness to judge each incident by itself instead of reflexively labeling everything as racist.
Actions MUST be taken in context. Clearly the boy idolizes this player. The action therefore, while misguided, is completely innocent and therefore inoffensive.
Holy crap...
I'm offended😳
Should I not be by a boy in blackface? Should the parent know better with history and all?
Only idiots expect people not to get offended this ain't the 1930s I don't say yes sir to everyone I met.
