Real men don't care what other men think. Real men care what the women they live with think.

The suburban jacked up oversize pickup truck is a case of appearance over reality.

FWIW: many large scale mining operations prefer to hire women to drive the huge dump trucks because the women don't abuse the machinery and rarely show up drunk.

I bet you eat a lot of food that you don't need. Not saying you're fat. Just saying that everybody in a wealthy country owns or uses things that they don't necessarily need.

I bet you own a computer too. (Just a hunch.) Do you really need it? Unlikely.
What we own signals parts of our personalities. That is the way a society works (whether you like it or not). Owning a massive truck that you don't have a practical use for signals some sort of inadequacy/insecurity with yourself. You don't have to agree, but societal norms and expectations are something you have to live with, because they still exist whether you agree with them or not.

Too bad the people who drive trucks are going 45 MPH when everyone else is doing 80 MPH rushing to get to work...and the truck driver? He/she is taking there sweet little time backing traffic up on the leftmost lane.

What a bunch of crap. What about luxury homes, fancy clothes, jewelery, etc? I guess you can argue ownership of anything that does more than satisfy basic needs reveals insecurity, but it is a hell of a stretch. If we were all "secure" the economy would tank from lack of demand.

The only people I judge by their vehicles are people who drive Smart cars. Ya gotta be pretty stupid to buy one of those.

Snooty-snoot, sniff sniff. We should all know how to do things for ourselves, basic repairs and have some idea how mechanical things work. Those inferior repair people can really take the ignorant pencil pushers for a ride. Ker-ching.

Ya know I got one of dem college degrees but still like doing things with my hands. I do 90% of my own home repairs. The truck comes in handy. I think the anti-truck people tend to be a bunch of pansies who call a plumber to change a washer on their faucet.

Only if they are paid by the hour. Pay them by the job and they will drive much faster.

Basic economics and human behavior.
