Dale, I bet you didn't know you were supposed to ask them what they wanted....then if you did not have what they wanted, you let them rummage around while you and your children are watching Mickey Mouse, ohhhhhhh and don't forget to offer them some popcorn and a drink....you don't want to be snobbish....

Yeah, everytime I think about that kind of stupid, I think of the Petit family. Didn't work out too well for them.
I don't care if you break in to clean my house. You will be asked, at gun point, to leave. If you refuse, you will leave feet first under a bloody blanket.
Uhuh... that's brandishing and they'll say you weren't actually in danger.
If someone breaks in they immediately get all 12 rounds from my gun.
The only asking will be me asking 911 to send the cops and ambulance to remove the body.
What irks me, "Oh, please don't shoot me" the crook says, as the mom is hiding in the crawlspace, with her kids....How terrifying for her, it must have been.
This guy was a career criminal. If he would have gotten a-hold of her and her babies, he would have done who knows what...
That's all he knows. Stealing and Breaking in. He goes at her house, with a crowbar, to get in. Instead of having a J-O-B and working for what he needs, he instead relieves homeowners of their posessions...

We had an attempted break in a few weeks ago. When I heard the noise from downstairs I told my wife to call 911 while I grabbed my gun and headed down.
She told 911 "My husband took his gun. Yes, it's loaded and he knows how to use it."
From upstairs while talking to 911 she called "They said you're to secure your weapon."
I replied "Hell no!" loud enough for them to hear.
She said "The officers are on their way and won't come in the house while you're armed."
I replied loudly "Fine, tell them to go back and I'll handle it myself! Tell them to send a coroner instead!"
That's when I heard the sirens start up in the distance.
The officers did not attempt to disarm me nor ask me to put my weapon down. After searching the house, they did say they had no problem with me handling it as I did prior to their arrival and that had I found someone I would have been justified in killing them inside the house if I felt my family was in danger. There was evidence that someone had tried to break in through the basement door.
People in fear of their live's don't warn or fire warning shots. They shoot.
Google it. People get in trouble for it all the time. Even warning shots are no nos.
Someone is in my house illegally.
I shoot the person.
They deserved it.
I do not have to prove that they were a danger....they were in MY home uninvited. Why else would they be there other than to commit a crime?
