For those that give Obama credit (where none is due) for the increase in oil production on private land, do you also credit him with the increase in gun and ammunition sales since he took office?

The government isn't hindering refinery building, the market is.

They're not being built for one reason, they're not needed. The current refineries aren't at capacity, so building more doesn't make economic sense. In any case, nobody but refiners are preventing more refineries from being built. They don't want to invest capital that isn't needed.

Moreover, refineries are a low margin business.

This is an interesting article: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/25/bu...anted=all&_r=0

Also, whenever anyone mentions increased production as a solution, they should read this piece: The Mirage of a Growing Fuel Supply - NYTimes.com

I have not seen anyone give him any credit for it. The only people who have brough up his name are those who can't wait to shout out "make sure Obama doesn't get credit for it". LOL

That won't stop him from taking credit for it or the swooners from slobbering all over him for it.

As it should be. There is no need to refine more product than there is a demand. If you think there should be more product refined, remind me when you last drove to a gas station and there was a sign that read, "No Gas Today."

The reason refining capacity has been static since 2007 is because demand was higher then. With more fuel efficient cars, we need less gasoline.

Exactly. Refining too much just so you can say you are refining more than before would be quite stupid.
