Court rules unborn is ‘child’

“An unborn child is a unique and individual human being from conception, and, therefore, he or she is entitled to the full protection of law at every stage of development."
Then surely you quite passionately believe that a law absolutely must be passed requiring all pregnant women to give birth.

I want my welfare check for my fetus.
Can I deduct from my income tax?

It's not a child from conception, it's potential though. And I've conceived and delivered children so I ought to know.

You must have been asleep that day in class. It requires both combined.

I've seen this argument before and I just don't get it. Obviously people who say this must think they are making some kind of point, but I don't get it.

No, they aren't humans. Neither is a fingernail or a hair. A tire isn't a car. A leaf isn't a tree. So what?

Pre-conception you have two separate gametes. Post-conception you have a developing zygote. Is this some kind of foreign concept to some people?

I understand you can make very good arguments for abortion rights. But this particular one I don't get. I see no contradiction in treating a fetus differently than a single cell. Just because it is a sex cell doesn't make any difference. A cell does not by itself develop into a human being. A fetus does. Therefore, they are different. That doesn't seem to be hard to grasp to me. I don't get it when people try to say if you don't want to allow abortions you shouldn't allow contraceptives. Like that's going to be some kind of trap that pro life people fall into. One affects things after conception, the other doesn't.

IMOHO, it would have been as effective and more to the point, to have declared it a crime for any woman whose intention was to continue the pregnancy to term. which would make it irrelevent to Roe vs Wade .
I thought federal court rulings superceded state rulings??
