Sure, it was the secular progressive socialists who created mega banks, and instituted "capitalize the profits and Socialize the losses." And like you said the middle class pays for those losses.

Than why defend any party?

Handouts, by the way, are more destructive to society than any good they do. And that includes both, corporations and people. People become fat lazy bums and companies become leeches that extort from all of us.

You think the squeeling over the fiscal cliff and debt ceiling are for the people getting government help? I'd propose that if money starts running out those would be the first off the dole.

They are squeeling for their rich friends, those getting juicy contracts from the government. They are squeeling for the medical industry that receives billions and billions of subsidies every year. They are squeeling for the schools that also get billions in subsidies for churning out students that will never get a job. They are squeeling for the military complex which also receives billions to keep us in war.

I laugh when i see folks defending a government that has made it it's purpose to exploit people. And that goes for both democrats and republicans.

Would YOU give it all up for $1 ?
We, seriously, need to cut government benefits so that working nets you more.

...
Where is your evidence that "Handouts are more destructive to society than any good they do?" I can point to countless examples of people who grew up poor and would have stayed in that class, had it not been for subsidized nutrition programs and subsidized college education. Those people grew up to be productive members of society.

The idea that a poor child is better off without enough food, than being fed through SNAP, has no logical foundation. The same goes for publicly provided immunizations.

Conservatives perpetuate the self-serving myth that helping people doesn't really help them but the evidence is scant to support that view.

Catholic Social Service has worked with people in poverty and the Food Assistance Program (formally known as Food Stamps) and other anti-poverty programs for a number of years. This is what I know:

The average time on Food Assistance (FA) is 17 months.

-- 27% of recipients receive for 6 months or less.
-- 41.5% receive for one year or less.

Only 14% of FA recipients report no income

31% of FA recipients are earning income

-- 11% have income from child support
-- 27% have income from social security
-- 23.5% receive disability income

57% of FA recipients have a high school diploma or GED

9 % recipients have more than a high school education

35% of eligible people do not receive Food Assistance

The Food Assistance program maintains a 98% accuracy rate

Sure, it was all those progressives who forced the poor defenseless banks to give mortgages to poor black folk. And it was because of these bums the world's banking market tumbled.

It's not............guess welfare was always made to help others not bring them to a level of don't do anything for yourself.......Hint: Once on welfare most think they can't do any better.

If this want planned long ago, why are the left wanting more on welfare than more off?? This President has multiplied food stamps to a disgusting amount of people who use them. I'm sure some see welfare as not being a burden to society.

It's an unintended consequence of financially incentivizing the poor to have 3 times the birth rate of those who can actually support themselves and their families. No one should be surprised that a social-engineered exponentially growing welfare-dependent class is overwhelming resources meant for the poor. That also explains rising income inequality. There's a glut of low-skilled poorly educated workers and a dearth of those who have developed their abilities through advanced education and/or relevant work experience. The glut depresses wages for the former and the dearth increases wages for the latter. Again, this should come as no surprise to anyone.
