I've tried several times to come up with a good answer for you. But then I realized the question, as phrased, is ridiculous. There is no reason you can't eat well too. It's not EBT Card Holders' fault that they make better food choices than you. Have you applied for assistance? If yes, why did you not qualify? If not, why are you complaining?
As I keep repeating I don't have a problem with helping disabled vets, handicaps or someone down on their luck due to unforeseen circumstance such as illness...The reason I complain is when I see my hard earned tax dollars going to leeches
such as the poster above you...And especially when you have 20000 ebt cards per month missing here in Mass, and then to have our liberal Gov come out proposing today to increase our sales income tax...yeah I do have a problem!!!

You know, the other poster has a good point. If you are working so hard and struggling to feed your family, how in the world do you have time to post all day and night on an internet political board, unless, of course, you are being paid to post? And if that's true, you seriously need to get a better paying job!

It's pretty clear that nobody believes your story in the op.
As I stated before I own a seasonal business...believe me if I could find a product that I could sell in the winter i'd being doing it...one thing I will never do....is leech off the state

Well, you could get a part-time job during the winter to supplement your income. I mean, that's what you all advocate for poor people struggling to feed their families, isn't it?

Never say "never." You don't know what may happen in the future which could put you in a position of accepting state help or starving yourself and your family to death. This is a precarious economy, and your business may fail. You just simply don't know what the future holds.

Mr. XXX,
I understand your frustration with seeing someone "you perceive" to be leaching off of a system...However, our perceptions do not always tell the whole story. I've felt the exact same way you have...someone wearing brand new shoes, designer pants etc...etc...at the food bank picking up food. I as you should remind ourselves perception is not reality.
As far as our Government programs (liberal or conservative)...I think that what you are seeing is just a sign of the times we live in...politically speaking the Government has to answer to ALL people...and in this information-age news travels fast...what does a government do in a country like ours? Look at Egypt...they took the direction that you speak of and what was the result? There are no real "Right" answers to the questions or problems you have...I just replied because at the same time i hear what you are saying...(and don't think its productive to judge you)...I just ask that maybe you consider all possibilities not just those that suit your perspective. Good day!

BTW FYI, I'm a retired Leo with 30 years on the job. I'm also a VN vet (66 - 68). I refused VA assistance because, well, *F* them.

I don't begrudge people for needing public assistance, neither do I "spy" on people buying groceries. Being on the govt. teat is not a party, nor is it making anybody rich. Are there people abusing the system? Absolutely, but they are not in the majority.

I wasn't spying...but when you see a husband and wife(i'm assuming they were married) each pushing a cart stacked with meats and junk food...Its not hard not to notice...And I wasn't the only one that noticed!!!
