There was a video on YouTube (it's gone now) that showed the actual failure of that exact turbine.
The turbine was spinning much faster than it was supposed to. Probably the drive gear inside the case broke or was stripped. The blades were totally unloaded, and spun much faster than they were designed to. Then centrifugal force did the rest. The blade that flew off went flying upwards and out of the frame at about a 45 degree angle. At the speed it was going, it might be miles away. Then the turbine, unbalanced, rocked back and forth briefly and stopped.
There is another video on YouTube (google "runaway wind turbine"). It destroys not only the blades, but the pylon holding it up.
....and so someone came along and re-purposed the video which is super common to you-tube and labeled it an "alien UFO" strike.
It was either hit by a drone and all evidence was removed from the site.
Or indeed it was hit by a UFO.
Those turbines take a pretty heavy toll on birds so they should be regulated as to where they're installed.
I once had a flock of birds fly into my kite string and one smacked into it, but no harm done.
What gets me is the number of people who take UFO, the first letter standing for unidentified, and automatically think it was aliens. It takes a great deal of self delusion to take that we don't know, to that it was aliens for absolute certainty.

Well, to be fair I would say that is only due to the fact of social conditioning to the meaning of the word.
People immediately think UFO to be alien because movies, books, TV and the gossip that permeates it have primarily used it within that context for many years (heck, look at the movies of the 50's).
So I don't see it as surprising that people immediately jump to that conclusion. The problem would be with those who cling to it in the face of more reasonable and practical explanations.
