We all know prohibition didn't work. Seriously , what is the point of having a 21 and over drinking age. If you can restrict it for 18 year olds, why not restrict it for 30 year olds or 40 year olds??

If 18 year olds are going to drink anyways, why not lower the drinking age, they are adults after all .

Sure why not? They are old enough to serve their country so they should be able to buy a drink.

It has always bothered me that at 17 you are grown up enough to be tried as an adult, but you cannot vote. At 19, you can die for your country, but you cannot drink or buy a personal handgun. I remember when I was in the Navy, on the ship we had cigarettes in the vending machines. Well, we had a 17 year old assigned to the boat and they had to move the cigarettes from the machine to the ship store. I remember looking at the young man and thinking, something can happen to him and here is a list of things that he legally cannot do.

They are old enough to serve their country only after (bare minimum) 9 weeks rigorous training and constantly under strict military authority and structure.

By and large, an 18 year old's decision making is "full retard"

Age is arbitrary.
The fact that humans haven't come up with a way to mark adulthood other than time is a failing.

Should an 18 year old be allowed to buy a gun, or operate a 2,000 pound vehicle that can go up 90 miles per hour??

Sure, after proper training and certification. Alcohol is a little different, and a ridiculous comparison.

So an 18 year old is mature enough to buy a gun, serve in the army, vote, and get married, but not mature enough to buy one beer.

In any case, if an 18 year old wants to drink they will, so no point in outlawing it for law abiding 18 year olds.

I drank when I was 18. Most people I know did, but we all made very stupid decisions, and a few of us died as a result.

Should it be legal, no. I think that is giving the green light for idiots to act like super idiots. But whatever, can't stop 'em, anyway.

Faulty thinking...
"If a man wants to kill you, he will, so there's no point in outlawing it".

If it is against the law to drink at 18, and an 18 year old is drinking, then he isn't a "law abiding 18 year old".
