here is something that is hard to wrap one's head around.
What would Karl Marx have made of SSM, and how about Lenin, Stalin, modern day socialism or even utopian communism?
my view is that marriage would be abolished altogether by any of the older ideologists, but a modern day Socialist party would allow it.
any ideas?
Why do you folks always neglect to mention Fredrick Engels?
Marx and Engels saw the family as a mere bi-product social evolution guided by the requirement to produce the needs of society (that is a very short summary). So I don't think that they would have cared much on a theoretical basis one way or the other. I don't have a clue as to what Lenin would have thought but it is abundantly clear that Stalin was deeply opposed to homosexuality.
but if we have complete government non-involvement in marriage, isn't that just the same as abolition anyway?
