I think about the relentless media coverage of the tragedy in Columbine - the photos of distraught parents, bloody children climbing out of windows, interviews with staff, and students recalling in horrific detail the events of that morning. The aerial shots as the events went down, the videos from inside the school, interviews with family after family after family.
In this digital age, I find it simply amazing that there aren't more photos of groups of students and parents, crowds of people assembling, during the events of that morning.
Anyone else find that odd? And please don't say that our media has developed a sensitivity to the feelings of others. If so, I'd say it was sudden and in complete unison - which is pretty unbelievable.
Right. There are 600 students at that school - multiply that by at least two parents per student - and we have ONE photo of kids being led out of the school? ZERO clear shots of large crowds of parents? (I can't find any - maybe you can.)
I just think it's odd.
I am not saying that a shooting didn't occur. I am just wondering at the lack of photos and videos in this digital age. If people can find more, please let me know - I'd prefer not to have to wonder about this.
There is a national conspiracy for some to push their agenda on gun control and away from school safety and school security. Notice how very little we hear of school safety these days. This is a tragedy that we are allowing these politicians to miss direct our attention away from what we really need to do for our kids.
really? parents are so busy worrying about their children, they don't have time to take pictures of their kids coming out of a school.
I think you're missing the point. I agree with the OP, there is a scarcity of photos taken at the scene while the even was happening, even though all the major news networks had camera crews on sight. Every news outlet was in a hurry to get information out as soon as possible, so much so that it has led to questions about what actually happened when comparing the early reports to the official story.
With all the cameras that were on sight, why aren't we seeing more pictures that were taken of the tragedy as it unfolded? I'm not asking this out of some sick desire to see violence sensationalized (personally, I think the coverage of Sandy Hook is already out of control), but more of those types of photos could possibly lay to rest some of the questions people are asking about what happened.
This is birther-gun kook-Fox news fans next conspiracy fad. Sandy Hook was an 0bama set-up to gitz their shootin' irons.
The sad irony is they are making a case against themselves better than any real conspiracy ever could.
Columbine was different because it unfolded more slowly. The cops also didn't even try to enter and stop the killers while it was going on. Media had plenty of opportunity to get to Columbine. With Sandy Hook, it was over before we knew about it.
