Just to repeat: If you wish to justify firing this teacher for poor judgment and knowing the risks beforehand, fine. However, this standard being bandied about, "If it becomes a distraction, he/she must be fired" is a horrible rationale. If a teacher likes to spend their weekends protesting abortion clinics, crawling on the sidewalk like a baby and the kids get ahold of some videotape of the infantile behavior, would you all be okay with canning the teacher because the kids are now constantly mocking and laughing at the teacher and the whole school is awash with the video?

Of course you're not. You'd want the school to do what it should do in the case of the ex-porno actress: Tell the kids to shut up and put away the video. If they get caught doing it in school, if they are disruptive in class, they get disciplined. Here's a novel concept: Stop letting school staffing and other policy being dictated by the predilections, hormones and bad judgment of middle-schoolers.

Suddenly she is so evil that nobody wants her near their kids, Just how hypocritical can you be? It would seem to me that nobody wants people to improve their quality of life. Saying that "because she worked in the porn or sex industry so she should stay there" is the height of stupidity and hypocrisy.

Second the one question nobody seems to be asking but should be is, how did a bunch of 12 and 13 year old kids get access to pornographic material when it is supposed to be controlled media? Rather than vilifying this poor woman who obviously changed her life for the better, someone should be investigating students and parents to find out who was so irresponsible to allow their children access to pornographic material at such a young age.

I think it's time people took the blinders off and start putting the blame where it belongs. So how about we stop ignoring violations of law and stop criminalizing the innocent.
Amen.

Given the fact that this woman still pursued teaching, I'd be willing to bet she is an excellent teacher.

Good, someone like that doesn't need to be a role model for children.

One shouldn't be able to look up their teacher performing sex acts on the internet.

I wonder who found out, proably one of the board members who remembered her from one of his/her secret porn stashes
It's not so much that she was a pornstar, it's the fact she decides to teach children as well.

and you don't know all these 'high horse' people and how they think or what they do behind closed doors.

She taught middle school. Her students shouldn't have been able to look up any sex acts on the internet.

Unless she was making porn in front of the children, or actually handing out DVDs to the students, what she does in her own time shouldn't have a bearing on her teaching at all.

Well, if nothing else, this is a lesson for people to realize that every choice you make, can impact your life, even 20 years down the road. Harsh reality.

I took that from the thread of the GAY PORN STAR TEACHER FIRED.

Listen the lifetime movie channel has a done a dozen of these "taken from real life" stories...
And it never ends well....
Those kids did her a favor.

I have not listened to any recordings of her, my understanding was that she did this before she became a teacher, not during her tenure. Then again, if she was moonlighting, I don't really see a problem with what she does outside of the classroom as long as her kids are learning. I think there are way too many people that are still hanging onto the Victorian view of sex, in some ways, and letting that view keep them from letting the little things go.

Does she need to be in a classroom with pubescent boys who apparently have unsupervised access to the internet? No, not at all. On the other hand, I don't think she should be barred from teaching over this whole mess.
In the OP's opening statement of this thread he provides a link to a clip covering the story done by ABC, I would recommend you watch it, sheds a lot of light on the situation.

The main problems are these:

- She's a middle aged attractive woman who became a teacher and has a history of doing 18 pornographic films which are still viewable online by anyone. Teenage boys are big watchers of porn. Imagine the hysteria in the classroom if these students found out their teacher was a former porn star? Would these teenage boys be able to focus on learning any of the material, at all?

- She has a history now. Not quite a criminal history, but a negative one. It's up to the school to maintain that image as they see fit, and she was becoming a black mark on their public image.

- She likely lied about her former employment, and the school administration found out. Lying on your resume and during your interview are easily grounds for being fired, not to mention the tape that leaked out with her opendly admitting she was a teacher during the filming of at least one of these videos.

And middle school students don't play M rated video games either, do they? Come on.

Stealing money is worse than making porn. And if you choose to not repay your school loan, you are a thief.
