I think the NRA would do better to go along with this and fight like the devil against mag and gun bans.

Default Background checks

I support the individual ownership of all, including full automatic, firearms by any citizen not a convicted violent criminal or found to be irresponsible due to insanity. I support having a background check to certify that a gun purchaser is a sane, non criminal citizen. I also support a Federal recognition of all concealed carry permits issued by any state allowing a person to carry a concealed gun wherever they have a legal right to be with very few restrictions such as court rooms, legislatures, and places selling alcohol for on site consumption.

However, I do not want the government or anyone else to have a list of who owns what firearm. That should be protected by individual privacy. The recent release of gun owner’s names and addresses in NY should have never happened. It only provides a shopping list for gun thieves. It also provides a list for local tyrants such as the New Orleans Police to confiscate guns during an emergency such as hurricane Katrina. That should also never happen.

It's going to be really hard for the Govt. to force background checks for private sales of firearms. Does anyone really think I'm gonna make my Dad go thru a background check before I sell (or give) him my shotgun or any other firearm we trade?

Can you cite evidence of this or is everyone on this board just supposed to take your word for it?

I am not breaking the law, I don't mind submitting to a background check to buy a gun from my neighbor, aslong as their isn't a ban.

Kind of like, I think marijuana should be legal, and I wouldng mind showing my id before purchasing it either.

As long as there's no cost to anybody.

All you'd have to do is go to a local dealer and have then run the background check. Otherwise he would end up being in possession of an illegal firearm.

Who's trying to obstruct? Anyone who posts something on this board without evidence should be called out. Who is Wayne? Should I google Wayne's speech and see what comes up. Is that the best you can do to deflect?
