BTW, Rick Scott is a new kind of scum. Perhaps it is time to bring back tarring and feathering. Many of us indulge in insults about political opponents and it is, to a degree, hyperbole. That thing is quite possibly the most contemptible pile of human waste I've ever seen in office. He will accomplish the unthinkable and give Charlie Crist the moral high ground in the next gubernatorial race.
He already has!!! Rick Scott is horrendous.

This is absolutely ridiculous. The darn Democrats did the same type of gerrymandering when they were in power in the states. Get over yourselves and always blaming the Republicans for doing the same exact thing as the Democrats. They both suck and so do the idiots who follow them.

What's wrong with white minority rule, other than the fact that white's aren't the minority, therefore being a moot point? I'm not sure what you're really implying here.

How does gerrymandering have anything to do with race?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for dropping the faux outrage over the thread and getting to the heart of the issue.

Thank you.

What is wrong with minorty rule... other than being an anathema to a democratic society I suppose nothing if one is in the minority or at least in the short run. However, as history has amply demonstrated, it debases not only those who are ruled but it debases those who act as rulers. Such despotism eventual erodes the rulers morality because of the imoral acts that it must perpetrate in order to maintain such rule.

Other than that, nothing.

Generally speaking not much. It is and has been a despicable practice by both political parties since the phrase was coined due to then Governor Elbridge Gerry signed a bill redistricting Massachusetts in 1812. However in recent years it has taken very nasty turn by insuring not only homogeneity by party but by race as well. So when you start taking out the census data and drawing lines around the map based upon what race lives where, it has everything to do with race.

FYI - I posted a non-partisan, non racial thread on the general evils of gerrymandering and no one seem interested in the subject.
