I have no doubt that women can be effective in combat. I remember the Russians had a very feared all female unit that was utterly feared by the germans in WW2.
That being said, there are any number of valid reason why this is a bad idea.
It looks like that ship has sailed. its time to insure the standards for both men and women are the same. I would hate to be in combat and get shot and the only person who could pull me out was a woman who didnt have the strength to get that done.

The reason it's different is that dislike between a white man and a black man is due to cultural upbringings and all those can be un done.
Sexual attraction between a man and a woman is biology and can't be reversed through social engineering.
Gays are applicable but then that's why they remain closeted in the military.
You haven't been around long enough to see that the leaners tend to always go back to people like those although they haven't been involved for so long. Also, they don't know much about the Winter Soldier thing so they still love Jon Carry. Most of them don't even know that he attended two North Vietnam meetings in Paris and all of it was against the United States. Worse yet, they can't handle the fact that Carry wrote all his medal requests, himself, or that he even backed off on his first Purple Heart which he got for a very small piece of metal in his finger that the medic claimed he took out with tweezers. Yes, he did take that one off his website in 2004 but he sure used it as one of the three needed to get out of Vietnam with only 4 months of service.
