I'm sorry for actually pointing out specifics in this thread full of redundant arguments regarding a bill that even the sponsor of it knows won't be passed.
Your joking? I now have to change my shirt for my tears of laughter have made it all soaked. This has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. I thought all the hoopla over abortion was stupid. This shows that neither side holds the edge on stupid. Jesus Christ on a Popsicle stick, WTF business is it if someone smokes. I think its safe to say that education is redial available. There is no one who thinks smoking is healthy or good for you. I agree with laws that keep people from smoking in public places that may make others breath it. I don't mind I like smoke and especially cigar smoke. I used to smoke them one big ol Churchill a day. But I gave it up for health reasons. My wife on the other hand gets sick when she is around smoke. So I agree with that part of the laws. But to make it illegal in ones own home or car or where ever a person and do it without making others participate, then thats a bridge too far.

I was just looking for a reason to say "Jesus Deezus".
A ban on sales of pre-packaged cigarettes might pass, if it was limited to people born After January 1'st, 1995.
At the very least, that stipulation should prevent a lot of shooting-sprees. O_O
You guys make a good point about how it would be great if tobacco companies could start selling tobacco without the harmful additives, for people to use in a Pipe, Cigar, or roll their own cig.
It would also be nice if the big tobacco companies started putting $ into making and perfecting better flavor options for the eCig/vape crowd...
Thats because Oregon has no sales tax. The lack of sales tax offsets the surcharge for full service gas.
I loved that about Oregon, nothing better than going out to buy things and be able to easily add it up how much you will owe. Even better at a restaurant where you just add up what you get and don't have to worry about any added tips.
I see that you're in Ohio. I remember when the ban was first implemented here. I was a DJ at a local Cleveland area club. It was in December when it went into effect, a Thursday night (which was one of the busiest for that club as it was "college id" night). We should have been even more busy as the Browns were on primetime playing the Steelers on Thursday Night Football. It absolutely KILLED that night, and it was the worst Thursday night I ever did at that club. Yes the weather may have played a small roll, but come on, when did weather ever stop people from going to the bars to watch the Browns play on primetime? A few days later though the bar said we don't have to enforce it until May, so out came the ash trays for another 6 months. The bans are absolutely ridiculous! All that is needed is a sign saying "we allow smoking in our establishment, enter at your own risk!" If the bar would have seen a decrease in patrons, because of allowing smoking while other places weren't then it should be HIS decision to make the necessary concessions for his OWN PRIVATE MANDATE, and not some damn government mandate!
I know, it's bad. It's killed a number of businesses here in Ohio. Trust me, I fought it tooth and nail, but the fact is that they are the ones with all the money and power and there is only so much the individual or little organizations like OpponentsOfOhioBans can do to try and stop it. It's a losing battle, but I'm not throwing in the towel. I'm fortunate enough to live in a town where pretty much every bar here flouts the ban, sticks up for their rights, and lets their patrons smoke.

Oh, and you're not allowed to smoke ANYWHERE at the Cleveland Zoo! I understand not allowing it in the public buildings, but the majority of the attractions are OUTSIDE! It truly is ridiculous!
Oh trust me, I wrote plenty of letters and Emails to the Cleveland Zoo's public relations and managment department back when they first said they woul be going entirely smoke free. Others did to but, didn't help the matter. I can even see having designated smoking areas for their customers, but that wouldn't be effective enough at dehumanizing the everyday smokers of this world and flicking them into the ashbin of society.

I think it's pretty obvious the bill is meant to highlight the absurdity of tobacco vs cannabis in this country. Everything you stated above applies to "marijuana laws", yet most people don't see the hypocrisy. There's no reason for tobacco to be legal for sale and for use in one's home if cannabis is not.
This is way beyond stupid.
Even if any doctors would be willing
to write prescriptions for cigarettes,
what would they be prescribed to treat?
Why would that suddenly matter just make something up and bank the kickbacks. just dont forget to grease the palms of the politicians and carry on
