Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
In 2008 and 2010, the Supreme Court issued two landmark decisions officially establishing this interpretation. In District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home within many longstanding prohibitions and restrictions on firearms possession listed by the Court as being consistent with the Second Amendment. In McDonald v. Chicago, 561 U.S. 3025 (2010), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment limits state and local governments to the same extent that it limits the federal government.
Good Article... Hog. It also illustrates the point that in conventional thinking a semi-auto .50 Cal long range rifle, is a just a 'rifle.' While a full auto 9mm carbine is an 'assault rifle.' I can be deadly sniping things from a 1/2-3/4 mile away with the .50 Cal with ample time to just continue pulling the trigger, while I need to be within 25-50 yards with 9mm 'Assault Rifle', and that is the illegal to own one.
I like this, I like this logical explenation on your beliefes. Often times in these types of arguments like gun-control people just say "I don't think" or "I do think" and they don't clarify.
Less guns doesn't equal less crime, but more guns doesn't equal less crime either. Its not that black and white. I think less poverty might equal less crime whether you own guns or not. America was once a lawless land, filled with good and bad people with guns. Chicago is a lawless city, filled with many anti-gunlaws. Sooo...
Laws don't necessarily stop crime, except when the law bans the crime in question. But then it is only a crime because of the law.
THIS top image lists all of the laws that the newtown shooter broke. We can nail him with those.
