Sigh, another one bites the dust.

An attack on Israel is an attack on the US, says … Rand Paul? « Hot Air

Quote:
Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul took what very well could be considered his most pro-Israel stance yet, saying in an interview that an attack on Israel should be treated as an attack on the United States.
Asked whether the United States would stand with Israel and provide it foreign aid if the Jewish state were attacked by its enemies, Paul went a step further.
“Well absolutely we stand with Israel,” he said in an interview with Breitbart News, “but what I think we should do is announce to the world – and I think it is pretty well known — that any attack on Israel will be treated as an attack on the United States.”

Ummmm, no, Mr. Paul.
It is not.

Like it or not, Israel is not part of the US.

I have no problem with his statement. If they're an ally, then he's absolutely right.

Rands apple fell pretty far from his fathers tree.

No country is worth one drop of american soldier blood or one dollar of its workers pay.

I'm not so certain of that. But it does seem apparent that it wasn't an apple which hit him on the head. More like a boulder!

Israel is far from an ally of the U.S.

Israel is not a friend of the U.S.

This sucks, because if Rand Paul wasnt such a big fan of Israel, he would actually be pretty decent.

The Senator took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the USA and no other country.

He must be his mother's child. His dad would not say such a thing.

Rand joined a different Republican party than his father.

You're not winning elective office in too many places as a republican anymore without declaring a slavish devotion to Israel.

I don't think Rand stating the obvious will help him recover whatever positive image he may have had prior to his Hilliary debacle. But, I am sure he knows he has to try.

I think you're right, and that the USA should not blindly support whatever Israel has done. Look, it's a nation which has engaged in industrial spying to the point of stealing defense secrets, it's involved itself in our politics, and it works against some of our national interests. I 'get' the defense assistance for Israel because its neighbors have not guaranteed it's existence/safety, but, too, Israel has so badly abused the Palestinian's to the point it raises questions as to whether or not Isreal wants to remove them from Earth. Israel, at the end of the day ... is a war-monger state.
