And what happens when an atheist or agnostic refuses to swear this oath to God? I was an atheist at 17, and I would have refused to take this oath. I guess you would have denied me graduating high school?
Companies don't pay for birth control. They provide health insurance for employees. What medical decisions an employee and his or her doctor makes is none of that company's business.
Where did I say or even imply that I would deny an atheist a diploma if they refused to say "so help me God"? I didn't nor would I. Assume much? I just said that one shouldn't take that term so literally.
Companies purchase health insurance for their employees. If they don't believe in birth control based on religious beliefs then they should have the option of eliminating that coverage if they so choose. If employees want to use birth control then let them pay for it themselves. It is the company's business to opt to pay for it or not.

You seemed to be defending the oath, and in specific defending the religious aspect of the oath.
"I, _______, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge these duties; So help me God."
Well, I guess atheists could graduate by lying when swearing the oath. And are you really taking an oath freely if your high school diploma will be denied if you don't?
High school can be hell so for some I'm sure a little lie is worth it.
[besides, you can always change your mind later...]

What other laws can we think of to make that serve no purpose other than to tick people off for our amusement?
How about mandatory weekly signing of "I am not a terrorist" agreements?
I've read it like 8 times. It still comes across the same way to me. Instead of repeatedly smacking your head, why don't you clarify it to me.
