Let me tell you what treason DOES NOT MEAN:

(1) Treason does not mean, "the acts of someone whose politics I don't like"
(2) Treason does not mean, "the act of someone talking to a nation I don't like"
(3) Treason does not mean, "the act of being received by a country whose politics you don't like"

If it did, you'd have to start by calling Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan two wild and crazy treasonous *****holes.
lol.

Treason really isn't that hard to understand. Try.

It isn't. I'm quite aware of cases of treason and what these involved. Merci.

Please share with us all the other people that were tried for treason, and tell us how John Kerry fits the mold.

Kerry met with representatives from Vietnam in Paris in 1970, according to Kerry’s own testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on April 22, 1971. Kerry’s meetings with the Vietnamese delegation were in direct violation of the law (18 USC 953) forbidding private citizens from negotiating with foreign powers.
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both. --- 18 USC 953
In 1970 Kerry was not a member of any congressional delegation. He intentionally gave material aid and comfort to the enemy and should be shot for his treasonous acts. Instead, Obama likes to reward traitors and terrorists to further demonstrate his anti-Americanism.
The simple answer to all of this is that the United States Justice Department did not charge him with Treason and the only people who seem to claim he was ever a traitor are those of the right wing.

The long answer.... Your amateur interpretation of U.S. code is trumped by those who actually spent 12 years in college and 20 years practicing law and then employed by United States government.

not really that long of an answer i guess.

As a vietnam veteran.........I have as much right to judge him as anyone.........in my book he is a traitor...... he made up stories about atrocities in vietnam during the "winter soldier" farce......
basically he said most veterans from that war were "baby killers"............if not treason. even worse.......he sold out his fellow soldiers

I guess anyone protesting the Vietnam war should have been convicted of treason, all those college students, maybe even a few anti-war politicians.

If they go to another nation and meet with the enemy to give them material aid and comfort, like both Kerry and Fonda did, then they should indeed be convicted of treason because they would be traitors as defined by Article III, Section 3, Clause 1 of the US Constitution.

We are talking about U.S. code(law) not your opinion, which is the point. Regardless of how you feel about Kerry, you only have the right to speak your opinion, but you are not qualified to pass actually judgement on him by neither god, or country.

I didn't like his statement since it generalized and lumped in all soldiers, but many of those atrocities he stated did actually occur. Protesting a war does not equate to being a traitor and does not meet the standard for treason, you may not like him but that does not make him a traitor in the legal sense.
