This is what happens when you let government into your life, people. There's already talk of denying restorative care to stroke patients older than 70--no matter how light the stroke and no matter how healthy they are, otherwise.

Conservative principles say that people should be left to their own devices and government should nt interfere. Currently, government is spending a lot of money to get people to stop smoking and eating badly. AP quotes "Dr. Scott Gottlieb, a physician and fellow at the right-of-center think tank, the American Enterprise Institute."
The AP article merely is agreeing with conservatives. Let these people do what they want and if they die, so be it.
Insurance companies are 'Death Panels'.
Until we take the corporate profit motivation out of healthcare, this is what we get.
The worst system of any supposedly civilized/industrialized nation in the world.
Davos is also discussing global obesity and solutions.
But food companies and big pharma are too important to them so they are treading lightly here.
So their suggestions..."build more sidewalks" to get people moving.
And of course you have your special tax that governments should put on food as a disincentive to eating unhealthy food.

Do that by getting rid of insurance.
You go to the doctor, you pay the doctor directly.
Insurance should only be for hospitalization.
That's how it used to work and it worked just fine until we went and changed it with the advent of HMOs and intrusion of insurance into regular doctor visits.

And of course the people who propose this are happy to also keep all the money these people have paid in payroll taxes and will never get back when they die early.

This thread is morphing into as health care thread.
But at the risk of that, if "insurance should only be for hospitalization," how does one who isn't rich but has cancer, supposed to pay for oncology visits for chemo that can run $1,000 per week or more?

Thank you for p(l)aying!
The OP's link, contrary to what he is trying to show, is not a liberal plan. It is a conservative plan, 'don't use the government to stop people from doing what they want.' That's basically the plan Alan Grayson showed us what the Republican health care plan is: die early.
