Not exactly conducive for raising 4 kids in a gang-infested neighborhood.
What about maternal instinct? That has nothing to do with IQ points. Your kids are dying, you get them out of there.

No Laverne gotta address the sick depraved culture that dominates this area. Guns are just a symptom.
Guns were just the tool. Sticks and stones would have done the same job, it's part of the street culture.

I agree, but sometimes it isn't that easy. My fiancee and I would like to move, but we need to save up the money to make a move and have been trying to get our credit higher to make it easier for us.

When someone works 80hrs a week and is struggling to make it where she currently lives, it is just going to be that much harder in a safer, more expensive area. But this is all hypothetical without knowing her real situation.

Guns do more damage than sticks and stones, but guns aren't the issue here.

It shouldn't be some big mystery as to why we have some of the most violent neighborhoods in the world.
All schools are good. It's the kids that make em or break em.

If/when the parent does not value education how likely is the child to do so?

Michelle Obama was raised in one of these Southside neighborhoods. Her parents put a high value on education. Michelle obviously put in the time and effort and achieved a different outcome than many of her peers. Her grades, test scores and entrance exams qualified her to attend Chicago's first public magnet highschool which is open to all who qualify. From there she went to Princeton and then Harvard Law School. How likely would any of this happened if she was raised by a single parent whose own life experiences resulted in not valuing education?
