Siberia is the same as Alaska, freezing barren wilderness where nobody wants to go. That's how they survived.

Yes, because the neocons running the GOP now are so staid and emotionally and intellectualy solid.

What like Lenin who.........used religion to his own advantage..........Vladimir Lenin - Celebrity Atheist List
In his Socialism and Religion, he argued that the religion business is used by the exploiters in order to drug their subjects into submission with false promises of happiness after death if they submit.

Expanding on Marx's famous "opium of the people" comment, he stated that.............
Religion is a sort of spiritual booze, in which the slaves of capital drown their human image, their demand for a life more or less worthy of man.
also translated as..............
Religion is a kind of spiritual gin in which the slaves of capital drown their human shape and their claims to any decent life.

Some-Random-Guy.........Thanks for the good read, that was very interesting.

It was an interesting read. At some point though you would think as hard as they were having it the father would have decided to maybe slide back into civilization to see how things have gone.

Yeah, he definitely seemed genuinely interested about the modernization of the world since their departure, but I think they entrenched themselves so far into the remote wilderness, always on the edge of starvation, I'm not sure such a journey would have ever been possible.

I can't pretend to know what it would have taken. His mindset was obviously different than mine also. After reading the story the first thing I thought when things got tough is that I might want to check things out elsewhere.

As far as he knew it, a new government has took over and was targeting his family. That's all he knew.

Would you risk being caught in such situation?

That is amazing. Can you imagine living all of those years without knowing what is going on in the world?
