The solution is that only the strongest women should be accepted for the infantry. Give them the opportunity to at least try for the position. Don't simply give it to them.
[isn't this how it is done for men?]
2 tried recently in the Marines. One lasted about 2 days, the other around a week or so. You won't read about that on msnbc lol
47 years old here and could still pass the PT test for an 18 year old The run would kill me, I run a lot but am not very fast but I could manage. I spent 3 years in the Infantry in the mid 80´s though, once was enough!

But 95% of the most fit women could not do what you did in the mid 80's. I'm against women in combat but if they insist then they have to understand that they are subjecting all women to the draft. Otherwise any man could refuse the draft.
" "The Army is supposed to be about not showing favoritism," says Desert Storm veteran Sam Ryskind, who was a mechanic in the famed 82nd Airborne Division. "But the females I trained with were de facto exempted from any heavy-lifting jobs."
Whether it was changing truck tires, loading cargo, or even moving heavy cooking pots into position on the chow line, Ryskind says men "always pulled the hard work. Pretty soon this made it an us-and-them situation."
It would appear favoritism isn't restricted to women. Sam must have been on someone's good old boy list as he's able to wander around watching cooks set up chow lines instead of turning wrenches.
Anyone seen humps by Marine MCT students at Camp Lejeune? All the females start at the front of the platoons and end up staggered in the rear by the halfway point. Just sayin'.

If we are going to be having women why not fifty year old men or boys of fourteen for the infantry ?
Physically both men of fifty and boys of fourteen would have an advantage being larger in the main.
From an article written by Fred Reed a Vietnam Marine. Fred On Everything
A couple of women in an article why women cannot pull their weight
when it comes to digging bunkers etc etc. Bob Just
What is so bad about 50+ year olds in the infantry? In Israel you are in the IDF( Israel Defense Forces) Reserves and subject to be called up in an instant if the IDF mobilizes until age 46.
There isn't really an enlistment problem in the military right now, so such bizarre schemes are unnecessary.
There is an enlistment problem. A huge one. 70% of enlistee's do not meet physical requirements. A number also have criminal histories and other baggage that make them unrecruitable. As it is the recruitment age is now 42. That's pretty tempting when your 99 weeks of unemployment is up. There are High Schools that will now withhold your Diploma unless you have a job, an aprenticeship or are enrolled in the military. Say what??
Thing is, men have no say over whether they get a combat assignment or not. Enlistment in the military is a defacto request to be put directly in harms way. The situation is not equal until women are similarly yoked. And they will not be, they cannot be. Hmmmm. Guess men and women aren't interchangeable after all. Imagine that.

BTW I am in better shape at 53 than I was at 23. I am 50% blind though... guess that lets me out. But... really... why, why, why are we still sending perfectly good young men (and women) to the deserts of the world, to get shot at, shot up, blown up and/or kidnapped, in 2012 when we have drone aircraft and other mechanisations of a very technologically advanced nation. WHY?????? Is there really no other good purpose to which these individuals could be put to???

Proof please that a HS WON'T hand out a diploma if the student passed all the tests and so on to graduate.
