Where myself it would have took a gun to my head for me to cast a vote for Romney, I am sure you feel the same way about Paul. I have no problem going back to the LP, everyone I have voted for has lost I am use to it.
I cannot stand Romney. Neither Romney nor Bush 43 were Republicans just RINOs, but neither were they crazy like Ron Paul. I am not sure which scared me worse, the thought of Ron Paul as President or his lunatic fanatical followers.

The only lunatics are the ones who say idiotic things and expect people to believe them.
Which of Ron Pauls policies were bad?
The one that would have prevented 9/11 because he read the reports that gave us the reasons why we get attacked?
Or the one that would have prevented our economic collapse by keeping Congress from manipulating the Housing Industry?

Coming from someone who thinks because a bill has the name Free Trade that automatically means free trade, I doubt you have read much into Ron Pauls policies. You don't comment in depth on them just make posts with silly cheerleader comments and then run.

He may very well be; I don't speak for him.

As to the question you asked me: I believe the government should provide a few core services. Public works are one of them, as there is no logical way to privatize these functions. Same with police and fire, although I would argue these things can be handled successfully by private companies. The fire service is filled with private non-profit corporations that provide fire protection, for example.

What I do not support is government welfare of any kind, most especially at the federal level. Farm aid, corporate tax breaks and subsidies, food stamps, social security, et al...all of them should go away. Clearly, I don't advocate just shutting all of these things off at once. It would have to be phased out, and would take time (decades in the case of social security and medicare).

Now, feel free to tell me how I'm a heartless *******
