YES! The OP does that with thread titles consistently!
i.e. Closing loopholes IS NOT the same as calling for new taxes, apparently a difficult concept for the thought challenged to grasp.
New taxes? That seems to be a bit of word play maybe. It is a call for new revenue. Maybe more get caught when you include those who are excluded now but all in all, I'm pretty sure the president will call for more than closing "loopholes".

Well if they remove credits and deductions that were once part of the tax code then those people affected would be paying new taxes wouldn't they ?
If they change rates on existing taxes than that's new additional tax on top of old isn't it ?

Ah, new revenue!
I'm all for that.
Get off the backs of small business and regular Joes/Janes so we can create economic opportunities to generate revenues.
Unfortunately, when Obama says, 'new revenue' it typically means more tax warfare rhetoric to galvanize the stupid against the so-called rich to justify new programs and legislature to xfer wealth from the middle class to government.

Well the new "rich" are the upper middle class.
$250K per year is rich, rich enough to be the target of all new taxes.
Closing loopholes and limiting deductions was what the Republicans said but when Obama says it, you are up in arms.
Another false outrage thread.
Nope, I think the outrage comes from the fact that when Obama says it, you know it wont happen. The master of lip service just parrots what his oponents say. One of the oldest tricks in the book to take the wind out of one's detractors sails.
Most know it all teen agers employ this trick on a daily basis.
He'll close loopholes, limit deductions, but just keep on spending at record levels.
When the republicans offered to cut tax loop holes the dems went for rate increase. Now they want tax loopholes . The hypocrisy is apparent .
What hypocrisy? The Dems always wanted rate increases and cutting loopholes. Not only that, cutting long range spending in entitlements and defense, lest you conveniently forget.
We are 16 trillion and counting in debt. To address that some of it will have to be increased revenue's. I'm O.K. with that as long as there are cuts to go along with it.
Too much spending is the issue, not loss in revenue. Obama just wants to tax and spend, he has even stated that "we don't have a spending problem."
