We need to get this going in every state school district so we can have fully trained precision marksman educators behind the school desk. This is a deterrent that should have been enacted years ago. It always takes a tragedy to wake people up and make changes for the better, like the Titanic disaster for instance. This is a common sense approach that is beneficial when it comes to saving lives.

Armed Teacher Pilot Program to Provide Free Training to Educators
Armed Teacher Pilot Program to Provide Free Training to Educators

"Teachers and school board members have been asking us for years about training to prepare for an incident like Sandy Hook. So our educational Foundation will sponsor an Armed Teacher Pilot Program for a comprehensive 3-day training class at Tactical Defense Institute in West Union, Ohio. Based on the response to this pilot program, we will roll out classes to other training facilities."

The program will begin by accepting 24 teachers. All expenses, including class tuition, ammunition, and lodging (which are expected to total approximately $1,000 per teacher), will be paid by Buckeye Firearms Foundation and outside donations. Officials will be invited to attend the class at no cost to help develop appropriate training guidelines.

"The long-term goal is to develop a standard Armed Teacher curriculum and make the training available to any teacher or school official," said Hanson. "To begin, we will use funds from our educational foundation and solicit donations from corporations to pay for the pilot program. Going forward, we will seek funding from a variety of sources to expand the program."

Won't do much good given schools ad gun free zones....

The only people who carry guns into schools aren't the good guys.

Even were such an idea to come into being, there are a vast number of people (including teachers) who don't have the ability to actually take a life.

Having a weapon and having the will to use it are two different things. Ask a deer hunter about those who freeze at the time to take the shot. Ask how many in the military, if they will answer honestly, if they have ever been in combat and did they actually shoot to kill or just fire for effect.

This is a terrible idea.

Many gun owners and business' associated with the firearms industry are getting behind this idea. We tried it the anti-gun way, time to try it the pro-gun way.

You should start hearing about the "Artemis Project", trying to get training and gear so that teachers and faculty what they need to stay safe.
