GOP Gov Kasich has listened to his states business people and citizens - dont worry, other GOP governors will also come around soon:

Kasich says the decision will free up money to spend on mental health and other services -- since the feds will pay for most of the expansion costs -- and will keep everyone else's health insurance premiums down because there won't be so many uninsured people going to emergency rooms for their medical care.

...

Over the years, Kasich has changed his approach to cutting Medicaid spending. He's still focused on bringing overall spending down -- his last budget cut Ohio's Medicaid spending by $1.4 billion over two years, mostly by slashing payments to hospitals and nursing homes.

But now, he's also embracing some of the latest trends in making health care more efficient, like trying new ways to pay for and deliver medical care -- the same kinds of trends Obamacare is trying to encourage.

For example, Kasich's administration is linking more of the Medicaid payments to the quality of the care in hospitals and nursing homes, rather than just paying them for doing more procedures. He's also trying to save money by creating "health homes," where people with chronic illnesses and behavioral problems can meet all of their health care needs in one place.

Yes, going to the Reagan-sponsored Emergency Room (which is unpaid for) costs taxpayers a ton of money.

Remember, the Federal government is only paying for the extension of Medicaid for the first two years. After that, the states get to pick up the bill. How will it save them money then?

Don't know if you're talking about you, me or John Kasich.

In any case, I already have decent health insurance, so I'm not too worried. Guess what? I pay for it too....and it ain't cheap.

As far as what so and so generates, I wouldn't get so high up on that horse. After all, I don't think your name is Gates, Jobs, Ford, or Walton. Everyone on C-D is just a common mustache trying to get by. You included.

Have a nice day.

It sounds like he is just pushing off the tough decisions to the next gov. Like it or not, Medicaid is driving state budgets off the cliff. The states should start taking the EITC away from anyone that receives it and is on Medicaid.

Do you really believe that he hadn't figured that out and wasn't in favor of it right from the beginning? I don't. But of course, he had to play along in order to make it look good.

We don't live in fantasyland. Obamacare is awful but now it is the law of the land. Governors have to do what is in the best interests of their states given the situation as it stands. So I really believe he had figured it out and really believe he wasn't in favor of it right from the beginning. The two aren't mutually exclusive. You can be against a law but then resign yourself to following it once it passes.

fully funded for 2 years only and then transitioned off to the state to fund.
Of course the hospitals like it, it'll help offset all the unpaid and deadbeat emergency room care!

No, we do , or more specifically if we are talking about our current situation, nobody does and we continue to get further and further into debt.

The "feds" aren't able to actually pay for anything.

I hope they vote his ass out of office.
Nobody is standing up for the middle class.
Just bend over while your politicians give it to you up the ass.

The idea is to insure low-income people so there will be no reason for "unpaid deadbeat emergency room care".
