The NDAA, they write, “codifies methods such as indefinite detention without charge and mandatory military detention and make[s] them applicable to virtually anyone…including U.S. citizens.”

Senator Lindsey Graham is one of the few supporters of the NDAA to plainly admit that “the statement of authority to detain does apply to American citizens, and it designates the world as the battlefield, including the homeland.”

Here is the list of the only members of Congress to vote against it:

2011
Sen. Thomas Coburn (R, OK)
Sen. Thomas Harkin (D, IA)
Sen. Mike Lee (R, UT)
Sen. Jeff Merkley (D, OR)
Sen. Rand Paul (R, KY)
Sen. Bernard Sanders (I, VT)

7 lawmakers know the truth, understand the consequences, and take their civic oath seriously enough to vote the right way.

That's it! The rest of our so-called "servants" voted to imprison their bosses on a whim.

What's still more troubling is that only 19 senators, no Democrats, voted not to send the Muslim Brotherhood Abrams M-1 tanks and F-16 tactical jets.

So we law abiding citizens require less bullets in our guns, less protections according to our Bill of Rights, and we're sending our enemies the very weapons they would/will use to attack us.

Holy Sh%$ what is wrong with us?
Interesting how everyone just passed right over the obvious and went about their bickering. I guess a productive debate is less important than one's ideology.

Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?”

I don't think you can

This is one thing that I as a Conservative agree with the President on.

If you pose a great threat to the USA AND it's citizens, denounce this country and threaten it with violence, treason and all other sorts of evil the way I see you have LEGALLY renounced your citizenship and are no longer protected by US law.

This was the choice that these enemies of the State chose for themselves. These traitors have justified their own demise.
As a Centrist, I agree with the Prez and you on this as well. On the CIA oversight by Congress question, I think the method in use now(limited to a few leaders of both Parties) is the best. The Dems seem to want all the CIA info be given to all members of the Senate and House Committees on oversight! Now, what could go wrong with that idea?

His justification?

He figured that it would be ignored by the left, while being able to marginalize anyone who would call him out on it.

Not sure how you came to that little bit of make believe since the "left" has been all over the issue since day one and has never let it rest of a minute.

Oh, never mind I forget that you are conservative Republican with a bad case of situational concerns. the situation being anything done by Obama.

How would you suggest we wage war? With flowers and poems, grow up . This has nothing to do with gun control or Sandy Hook, what next are you going to change the topic to abortion or Elvis sightings ?

Obama has a duty to protect US lives and interests, if this is what it takes OH WELL !!!

Only the clueless would think laws and legal documents will work with terrorists.

In this case Obama IS justified in his actions PERIOD !!!
So you'd have no problem at all if the government were to call you a possible terrorist without any due process and then slaughter not only you but your entire family with a drone? If so, at least you're philosophically consistent.

Oh of course not! After all with that thinking they feel their hand must be held that they may be a secret terror agent who needs to be watched in case they act out.

No, it is a few groups on the left that has a problem with this but it's hardly "the left".

Yea. They're "all over it."

They're discussing it....lightly criticizing it..... analyzing it.

They all start with "We know that if Bush was doing it, we'd be all over it."

There's no real call from the left to stop this.
