really now???
Yes, really. In 2001, the House vote for the tax-cuts was:
Vote by Party....Yes..................No
Republicans......224 (99.6%)......1
Democrats ........7.....(3.4%)......198 (96.6%)
Independents 1 voting no.

On Medicare Part D, the GOP House held the vote open until they had enough votes to pass it. The conservatives can't blame Bush. The GOP as a block wanted all the government goodies but didn't want to pay for them. Under the GOP dominance there was a record number of earmarks too.

CBO: Budget deficit estimated at $854B

How many times has it been revised?

Want to bet it isn't revised again?

Hypocrits much?
"engage in two costly wars,". Why don't you ask the dem Senate Majority Leader who co-sponsored the bill when the dems had control of the Senate? We know how the Senate Majority Leader can kill any bill he doesn't want the Senate to pass, aka Harry Reid.

Without the dems in the Senate AND the House, the Authorization Bills would NEVER have passed.

But, the uneducated NEVER want to blame the dems. I wonder why?

2. Again with the spelling thing...The STIMULUS is working and was needed to avoid falling into the fiscal abyss caused by your happy-go-luck deregulator buddies in Wall Street's pocket. On top of that, GWB added substantially to all of the negatives you people complain about...debt, deficit, government size, etc........ And from a purely theoretical standpoint...the wars were just stupid...did Iraq attack us? I always forget.
3. Was an entire new branch of government needed or just reforms within the existing branches? I feel like you people are just riddled with hyprocrisy. It's supposed to be US who support more government and you who supports less yet you guys pop wood when talking about making the military bigger and expansions in this regard.
"So did spending", yet the deficit was going DOWN!

GWB with the full support of conservatives immediately threw that surplus away with tax cuts. This is objective reality.

The very first GWB budget ran a deficit to his last one ran a deficit and conservatives said nothing and did nothing. Then conservatives supported 2 unpaid for wars and Medicare Part D, none of which was paid for.

The minute President Obama is elected then that is when these lying conservatives immediately start in on the debt and deficits mantra.

Yet conservatives just spent the last 8 years supporting a president that threw away a budget surplus in favor of tax cuts. They just were supporting a president who supported very costly and unpaid for wars. They just supported a president who created Medicare Part D which was also unpaid for.

conservatives have zero credibility to speak about debt and deficits. They don't care about either as evidenced by reality and recent history. As usual conservatives are lying.

If someone is going to bring up history, they should do a little checking before insulting others.

There was NO surplus.

Just because you type NO surplus in all caps, it doesn't make you right.

Q: During the Clinton administration was the federal budget balanced? Was the federal deficit erased?
A: Yes to both questions, whether you count Social Security or not.

The common arguement is the method of accounting used.....but
"even under accrual accounting, the annual reports showed surpluses of $69.2 billion in fiscal 1998, $76.9 billion in fiscal 1999, and $46 billion for fiscal year 2000. So even if the government had been using that form of accounting the deficit would have been erased for those three years."

Further...the only people in the "real" world outside of city-data that contest the Clinton surplus are these idoitic fly by night "economists" that only get published on trash blogs like lewrockwell.
